It cannot be denied that almost everyone’s life has been affected since reform and opening-up policies launched in the end of 1978. But what does it really mean when we talk about these changes？
Firstly the reform and opening-up policies can be separated into two parts——reform policies and opening-up policies . From a more macroscopic perspective, reform includes economic restructuring, that is, transforming the highly centralized planned economy into a socialist market economy system. In my study opening-up policies mainly refers to opening to the outside world in form of investment, trade, and further more open to acquiring advanced technology, management skills and economic cooperation chances.
However, in order to figure out the effectiveness of reform and opening-up policy, we may not necessarily dig into government policies and these surveys from institute of economics, but in my perspective just focus on a small village in my hometown.
Almost half a century before, farmers like my grandparents usually lived in huts which were in poor quality. For instance, the roof that was made of thatch could easily leak when it rained or be blown off under heavy storm. Although both my grandparents were looking forward to the world outside, they had never actually walked out of village as the farthest place my grandfather had ever visited during the first half of his life is the farmer commune of village nearby, regardless of my grandmother whose social status is much lower than her husband. At that time nobody felt inconvenient or unsatisfied about this lifestyle as this phenomenon could be seem certainly everywhere across the mainland of china. The reason behind this vary from busy farming, transportation to individual education. But as the saying goes ‘economic basis determines superstructure’, economy is always playing a key role in the process of development of society. Leaders in the communist party also came to this point soon after trials and errors in history.
In 1978, great leaders of The People’s Republic of China, Deng Xiaoping announced the decision to reform and open up to the world outside. Over the past forty years, our country has become the second largest economy entity in the world. There are 1.3 billion people working together to realize the Chinese dream of great Chinese nation rejuvenation. Two years ago, my family caught the chance to have a family travel with both my grandparents to Beijing, the capital our country and the heart of our motherland. That is the moment that I deeply moved by gratitude from my grandparents to the great leaders, especially to Deng Xiaoping. I'm studying in a city famous for its walls. All visitors to my city are amazed by the imposing sight of the city walls, silhouetted by the setting sun with gold and shining lines. With old, cracked bricks patched with lichen, the walls are weather-beaten guards, standing still for centuries in protecting the city.
Our ancestors liked to build walls. They built walls in Beijing, Xi'an, Nanjing and many other cities, and they built the Great Wall, which snakes through half of our country. They built walls to ward off enemies and evil spirits. This tradition has been maintained to this day as we still have many parks and schools walled off from the public. I grew up at the foot of the city walls, and I've loved them since my childhood. For a long time, walls were one of the most natural things in the world.
My perception, however, changed after a hiking trip to the Eastern Suburbs, a scenic area of my city. My classmates and I were walking with some international students. As we walked out of the city, we found ourselves flanked by taller and taller trees, which formed a huge canopy above our heads. Suddenly an international student asked me, “Where is the entrance to the Eastern Suburbs?”
“We're already in the Eastern Suburbs,” I replied.
He seemed taken aback, “I thought you Chinese have walls for everything.” His remark set off a heated debate. At one point, he likened our walled cities to “jails,” while I insisted that the Eastern Suburbs were one of the many places in China that had no walls.
That debate had no winners, but I did learn a lot from this international student. For instance, he told me that universities like Oxford and Cambridge were not surrounded by walls; the campuses were just part of the cities. I have to admit that we do have many walls in China, and as we are developing our country, we must carefully examine them, whether they are physical or intangible. We will keep some walls but tear down those that impede China's development.
Let me give you an example.
A year ago, when I was working on a term paper, I needed a book on business law and found a copy in the law school library. However, the librarian turned down my request with a cold shoulder, saying, “You can't borrow this book, you are not a student here.” In the end, I had to spend 200 yuan buying a copy; meanwhile, the copy in law school was gathering dust on the shelf.
At the beginning of this semester, I heard that my university has started not only to unify its libraries but also link them up with libraries of other universities, so my experience will not be repeated. Barriers will be replaced by bridges. Through an inter-library loan system, we will have access to books from any library. With globalization, with China integrated into the world, I believe many of these intangible walls will be knocked down.
I know globalization is a controversial issue, and it is hard to say whether it is good or bad. But one thing is for sure: it draws our attention to China's tangible and intangible walls and forces us to examine their roles in the modern world.
And how about the ancient walls in my city and other cities? Should we tear them down? Just the opposite. My city, like Beijing and other cities, is actually making a great effort to preserve the walls. These walls attract not only historians and archeologists but also many schoolchildren trying to study our history and cultural heritage. Walls have turned into bridges to our past and to the rest of the world. If the ancient builders of these walls were still alive today, they would be proud to see such great change in the role of their walls. They are now bridges that link East and West, South and North, and all countries of the world. Our cultural heritage will survive globalization.

在现实生活中，像成克杰、胡长清等腐败分子无视党纪国法，恣意践踏法律，给整个社会造成极坏影响的案例，在这里我们暂且不说。就让我们反思一下自己，每次过马路，我们是否都走斑马线?每次开车，我们是否都能做到不超速、不抢行?在我们很多人的思想中，遵守不遵守交通法规仿佛没有什么大不了的，这或许正是我国许多城市交通违法率居高不下的根本原因。
“国无法不治，民无法不立”我们生活在法制国家，处处需有法，处处需遵法，而作为一个普通的公民，我们应让法律在心间长驻。
遵守法律和宪法是我们每个公民应尽的义务。俗语有云：“没有规矩，不成方圆。”法律的制定是维护社会秩序的根本途径，所以为了社会的安定，更是为了我们自身，我们必须自觉守法。而且法律所规定的内容，必定是着眼于公民的利益，因此我们没有理由反对，没有理由不遵循，更没有理由背道而驰。虽然我们有追求个性的自由，但这并不意味我们能标新立异，无视法律的存在。与法律抗衡的结果只有一个，就是自毁前程。在我们身边，知法犯法的例子不胜枚举，而为了灿烂的明天，我们能不守法吗?
我们都曾做过这样的一道题目：当自身利益受到侵害时，该怎么办?回答是：用法律武器维护自己的权利。我们是这样说的，但未必能完全做到。当我们真正遇到类似的事时，经常是“大事化小，小事化了”，从而放弃了行使的权利。但你知不知道，这种息事宁人的态度是不明智的，是纵容他人的错误行为。既然我们学习了法律，就要善于运用，以法律之矛，攻违法之盾，敢于与黑暗势力作斗争，为社会尽自己的一份力量。

一天傍晚，在去晚自习的路上，蓦然回首间，我发现一缕霞光映入我的眼帘，似曾相识。心中不由得泛起感动，多美的夕阳啊，美得让我挪不动双腿。想来，我步入这所学校已经有半年之久，可从来没有发现山边的那颗夕阳是那么美丽。也许，在座各位也没有几个人曾经留意过这片景象吧……我们都被快速的生活节奏带动得越来越麻木，似乎最起码的触动也是很久以前的事情。我们的人生似乎太匆忙，我们忘了驻足。
记得那是高三，繁重的学习任务，紧张的生活节奏，把我压得喘不过气，每天所能做的所能想的就只有高考。满脑子的卷子，闭眼睛就是公式，生活中的所有喜怒哀乐全被分数所控制。没有谁敢在任何地方有分秒的停留，仿佛都是在赛跑，谁跑得慢就被淘汰。夜以继日的跟别人比，跟自己比，比什么自己也不知道。傍晚的荷花池里，鲤鱼在嬉戏玩耍，那不是荷花开的季节，并没有鱼戏莲池间的诗意，然而我的眼泪留了下来，我向往着鱼儿的自在。这时我想到了放弃，我畏惧了前进。我似乎是在心疼自己。我把想法告诉了父母，然而母亲在电话里的态度不言而喻。谁会忍受自己的儿子临阵退缩，任何理由都不会让母亲对我的想法有些许的怜悯，我感到无助。再次站到池塘边，身旁都是匆忙的身影。
我想到了死，我找不到更好的解决方法，我的成绩没有起色，我懂得任何的理由都不能为失败开脱，我无助，我怀疑，我困扰。我们的学校给高三的学生创造了一个环山拥水的世外桃源，我盲目的爬到了山间，不是很陡峭的悬崖，也没有乌鸦在天空盘旋，而此时我的心看待任何的颜色都是暗淡无光。天空渐渐暗了下来，我就站在山头，头脑里一片空白。我真的下了决心，纵然我有太多的留恋，但我真的没有信心继续坚持。正当我深呼吸的刹那，我感觉到了一丝温暖抚过我的脸庞。我睁开眼，是夕阳不骄不艳的夕阳，很柔，很美。我为之一动，啊，活着我看到了夕阳，活着我感受到了温暖。恍惚之间，我脚一滑跌了下去，而脑海里霎时闪现出了母亲的笑容，与朋友玩笑的场面，那片霞光，猛然间我明白了些什么，于是用手脚拼命去阻碍不断地下滑，我努力着，努力着……终于我爬了上来，就在那一霎那，我感到羞耻，为自己的懦弱感到羞耻，为自己的任性感到羞耻。我真的想活下来，我真的不想去死，毕竟活着还是美好的，活着可以看到很多美的东西，海浪，椰林，金色的朝阳，似火的晚霞，还有许许多多我爱的人以及爱我的人。想到这里我觉得我错过的太多太多，我还没有感悟到真正存在的意义就要急于去寻求解脱，或许解脱只是懦弱之辈用来掩护自己的台词。

中华人民共和国从古至今已有五千年的历史了，每一年我国都有新的变化，而今，我国已国富民强，就连农村也换了一副新面貌，下面，就让我们来了解一下农村近几年的变化。
农村以前是那么的贫困，甚至连饭都吃不上。而现在你看，户户盖起了高楼，想来，以前人们还不住在金碧辉煌的别说房屋里呢!年初，人们还住在泥瓦墙屋里，这种房屋不仅不保暖，不防风，而且很容易倒塌;不久，人类聪明了很多，发明了砖瓦墙屋，但这种屋子还是不够好。人类不够满足。几年后，水泥钢筋屋问世了，这种房屋比前两种较完善，但还是不完美，最后，美观、保暖、防风、亮堂、坚固的别墅式房屋出现了。
以前，每次去外婆家，哪儿的路总是坎坎坷坷，沙石遍地的小路，不仅小，而且寸步难行，现在，我去外婆家，哪儿的路，变得又宽又平，换成了水泥路。说道路，路也有一度历史哦!路的种类分三种，机耕路、沙石路、水泥路。当然，其中水泥路最适合车辆穿行了。有了水泥路出行就不用愁了。
农村的变化可不止这两处，改革开放的好处多着呢。
以前，人们买菜都要靠票据，就算有再多的钱也不卖。农村也是一样，不像现在，只管出钱买，现在，我国经济已充足了。因为那时经济落后，粮食少，所以都要干活，论苦力分粮食，可这样做了许多天，却没有多少粮食，人们都少了积极性。这样粮食更少了。自从改革开放后，农民分田到户，包产到户。最重要的积极性提高了。第二年，自家负责耕种的田地就大丰收了。中国农民开始脱贫变富。生活也逐渐好了起来。致富不止卖粮食一条路。如果大家都去卖。那也卖不了多少。在责任田上种些花草，水果之类的。收入也很高。总之，政府如此做，是明智的。它使我们的生活如此和谐。
生活中，电器也不能少，我们村上也不能少。
20世纪，一般家庭买不起电视机。常常一户人家买了以后，消息比野火传得还快，整村人晚上吃完饭，便去那户人家，一个挨着一个，挤在一起看电视。而冰箱、洗衣机、录音机连想也不敢想有了。而这时，电视机已遍布全国，洗衣机、录音机、冰箱、汽车也在普通家庭出现。而现在，又有一种新的电器——电脑上市了。电脑有好多功能，不仅能上网购物，足不出户，便可知觉身边事，还能与人谈心，查找资料……一般百姓也会操作。
当然，改革开放给我们带来的好处数之不尽。

It was a long four years. Even after I had actually graduated, the nightmares began to haunt me, the university would call to say I hadn’t truly graduated. There had been a mistake and there was just one more class I needed to take. I was always so relieved to wake up and realize that it had only been a bad dream. In reality, I had completed every course needed for my degree, and I was a full-fledged college graduate!
Now, the rest of my life loomed ahead of me. Sometimes a bachelor’s degree prepares you for a specific occupation——you train to be an accountant, you graduate and get a position in an accounting firm. Often, however, your stint in college only prepares you to make further decisions regarding your future. You’re pretty sure what you don’t want to do!
During my senior year of college, I had toyed with the idea of changing my major. At that point, I had finally discovered what captured my heart. But, wanting to finally be finishing school was a stronger pull. So, I took a few courses in physiology and exercise science, but not enough to receive a degree in physical therapy. That would require advanced schooling, beyond my bachelor’s degree——and I just wasn’tready to tackle that. Having completed my B.C. degree, I didn’t have any intentions of furthering my education.
So, I did the safe thing and got an office job——the very thing I was sure that I didn’t want to do! I detested the office policies, the suits I had to wear and the downtown environment that I had to drive to every day. I knew this was not where I belonged.
But god knew what path my career was to follow. A position opened up at the most exclusive health club in our city, so I applied. This was my kind of environment——an active, vibrant kind of place——completely at the opposite end of the spectrum from the office environment where I found myself. The position required that I work Saturday nights and Sunday mornings. Perfect, I thought! I could keep my office job Monday through Friday and work at my dream job on the weekends. This arrangement lasted several months until, eventually, a full-time position opened up and I was able to resign from my office job.
Over the next few years, I worked my way up the leader, gaining experience in several different departments. I found my niche as the director of member services——catering to our clientele and providing them with numerous cutting-edge programs. I would have stayed at that job forever——it seemed to be the pinnacle of all my dreams fulfilled. Here were fellow employees who had a passion for the same things that I did——health and fitness. Yet again, god had other plans for my life.Within two years, a newer, bigger, better and more state-of-the-art health club facility was built——just five miles down the road. And, in turn, the owner lost many members to that club. And, in turn, the owner lost thousands of dollars. One by one we were each laid off.
After trying unsuccessfully to land another similar position elsewhere, I knew what I had to do. Go back to school!thanks!篇三The story with English and me

“Like what?” asked the fairy godmother. “You look lovely to me.”

“Oh, fairy godmother,” said Cinderella. “Its lovely. How can I thank you?”

The Prince saw her, and had eyes for no one else for the rest of the evening. Cinderella danced only with the Prince（王子）, and as the evening passed, he fell in love with her.

The Prince looked at Cinderella and realised that she was the girl that he had fallen in love with.
Cinderella took the other slipper from her pocket（口袋） and put it on.
The Prince was happy to have found her, and on a bright sunny day, he and Cinderella were married. They lived happily ever after.
