On the twenty-fourth of December, all children are very excited. Usually they are sent to bed early so that their parents can get the presents ready. The younger children think that Father Christmas will come down the chimney or fireplace, so they hang up a sock for him to put presents in. The greedy ones even hang up a pillow-case or a sack to try to get more presents. Later that night, father or mother will put presents in the sock, and leave others at the side of the bed.

Christmas Day falls on the twenty-fifth of December. It is a very happy day for many boys and girls. Before the term ends in some schools, the children act a nativity or “birth” play, showing how Jesus was born in a stable.

Mary was engaged to be married to Joseph, a carpenter, but before they came together, she was found to be with child.

Christmas Day-December 25-which celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, the founder of the Christian religion, is the biggest and best-loved holiday in the Christian World.

According to the Bible, the holy book of Christians, God decided to allow his only son, Jesus Christ, to be born to a human mother and live on earth so that people could understand God better and learn to love God and each other more. “Christmas”- meaning “celebration of Christ ”- honors the time when Jesus was born to a young Jewish woman Mary.

Mary was engaged to be married to Joseph, a carpenter, but before they came together, she was found to be with child. Because Joseph, her husband, was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

Although the exact date of the birth of Jesus nearly 2,000 years ago is not known, the calendar on the supposed date divides all time into B.C. (Before Christ )and A.D. ( a Latin phrase, Anno Domini, “in the year of our Lord.”) For the first 300 years, Jesus' birthday was celebrated on different dates. Finally, in the year 354, church leaders chose December 25 as his birthday.

There is a traditional Christmas game called “secrets anta ”which is good to families and friends. Everyone needs to buy a gift, write his or her name on a small card and put all the cards in a box, take out a card one by one and give his or her gift to the person whose name is on the card, give him or her a big hug and say merry Christmas, have fun!

In china, On Christmas Eve in Beijing, more than 15-hundred people packed into the 407-year old Church of the Immaculate Conception in Beijing to celebrate midnight mass - while many more stood outside watching services on two big TV monitors. It is not exaggerated to say that Christmas has become a popular festival in China.

However, some people argue that Christmas is overshadowing traditional festivals like the Spring Festival and it signals the destructive process of westernization among the Chinese and thus it should be condemned. However, I take a more optimistic stand on this phenomenon as it signifies China's opening up to the world and its preparation for appreciate other cultures.

Moreover, we have our distinctive way of celebrating Christmas. Instead of going to the church like the Americans, we regard Christmas as an opportune time to shop and to enjoy ourselves, as many shopping centers offer discounts to attract customers in Christmas season. As such, our values are not deeply altered by our celebration of Christmas.

Today is Christmas Eve; it’s time for me to say “Happy Christmas”.

That’s all. Thank you.

On December 25, people around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Some people celebrate by giving gifts. Children may be thanking Santa Claus for new toys. They may also be going to church with their families. Christmas has so many traditions and symbols associated with it, that it's hard to determine exactly how it came to be the celebration it is today.

Ah! Christmas morning! Children like to wake up early while it's still dark and sneak into the living room to check the presents----find any with their name on it, shake them to guess what's inside, and then maybe they'll go back to bed and pretend they are still asleep when their parents come to wake them with a “Merry Christmas!”

But almost no one I know gets completely dressed or eats a regular breakfast first thing Christmas morning. They just put on a robe or wear their pajamas and go to see what's under the Christmas tree. Some Christian families have a tradition of reading the Bible story of Jesus' birth. Maybe it's to remind the children that Christmas is Jesus' birthday.

Someone will begin to take the presents out from under the tree, see whose name is on the package, and then pass them around. Some families wait until all the presents have been given out before opening any of them, while others open each one as it comes to them. There are many “thank you” to the ones who gave the gifts, new clothes are tried on to see if they fit, and of course the most interesting toys will immediately be played with.

Usually among the Christmas gifts will be some especially delicious candy or cake or cookies which everyone tastes. These sweet things may be the only breakfast many people eat Christmas morning. After the gifts have been opened, the room will be tidied up except where the children are playing with their toys. Everyone will wash and get dressed for the day.

Some people may go to a Christmas morning church service around ten o'clock if their church didn't have one on Christmas Eve. But most people will just watch TV. Well, most men will. The children may play outside or inside with their new toys, but the mothers will be in the kitchen preparing Christmas Dinner.

The word“Chrismas” is derived from the word “Christ Mass” the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

Now we are gonging to talk about some traditional customs in the western countries.

People usually place a Christmas tree, wich is decorated with colorful lights sweets and gifts,in their living rooms at Christmas. In Northern Europe, the trees that remained green throughout the year were worshipped as symbols of eternal life.It is said that Mistletoe, hung up as a Christmas decoration, allow you to kiwhoever you like underneath it.A tele tells that Balder the sun god,was killed by an arrow of mistletoe made by the god of evil ,Loki.Balder, however, was bought back to life, and the mistletoe was told never to harmBalder again.Perhaps for this reason the mistletoe become a symbol of love and reconciliation.

Good evening , ladies and gentlemen . I am Joy and glad to give you a speech about stre, yes , just the topic you see on the screen.

Psychologist tell us that streis a state of worry caused by the problem of living , such as too much work or study , heavy responsibilities , and quickened pace of life .

The chief problem we should face to is our atitude towards stre.People usually say they can not live in the sun except they escape from stre. It’s unwelcome ! Yes , however , very necessary . Just image a world where stredoes not exist and people lead their life in a very comfortable way . But is this kind of living condition as perfect as we hope ? Without stre, they may feel very satisfied with the current life but lack of power to discover new things . Too much satisfaction result in nothing except a countermarch of the society . No stre, no development . So a certain amount of streis good . It can stimulate us and increase our level of alertne.

And our answer to streis another vital problem . How to do with ourselves when stresuddenly break into our life ? To wave the white flag and admit our unability , to give up to our ideality , or worstly , just to suicide as to put an end to everything … Of cause not . The principle is to tackle with stregentlely and harmoniously. We should try our best to release ourselves . Such as to do some exercise , to linsen to traditional Chinese music or classical music to ease our minds and to learn to view these changes of life as challenges .It’s no use crying over spilt milk . Only to accept what has happened can solve the problem .
