My First Day of New Year

At the first day of New Year, I was so excited that I got up very early in the morning. But Mother was earlier than me, and she had gotten the breakfast ready. Dumplings, that's my favourite. After the wonderful breakfast, I left home with my parents to visit our relatives. On the way, I said “Happy New Year” to everyone that I met and they all said that back to me. Chinese New Year starts with the New Moon(新月)on the first day of the new year and ends on the full moon(满月)15 days later. The 15th day of the new year is called the Lantern Festival(元宵节), which is celebrated at night with lantern displays and children carrying lanterns in a parade.

The Chinese calendar is based on a combination of lunar and solar movements. The lunar cycle(月运周期)is about 29.5 days. In order to “catch up” with the solar calendar the Chinese insert an extra month once every few years (seven years out of a 19-yearcycle). This is the same as adding an extra day on leap year (闰年). This is why, according to the solar calendar, the Chinese New Year falls on a different date each year.

New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are celebrated as a family affair, a time of reunion and thanksgiving. The celebration was traditionally highlighted with a religious ceremony given in honor of Heaven and Earth(万物), the gods of the household and the family ancestors.

Before the old man left, he had told people to put up red paper decorations on their windows and doors at each year's end to scare away Nian in case it sneaked back again, because red is the color the beast feared the most.

From then on, the tradition of observing the conquest of Nian is carried on from generation to generation. The term “Guo Nian”, which may mean “Survive the Nian” becomes today “Celebrate the (New) Year” as the word “guo” in Chinese having both the meaning of “pass-over” and “observe”. The custom of putting up red paper and firing fire-crackers to scare away Nian should it have a chance to run loose is still around. Probably more food is consumed during the New Year celebrations than any other time of the year. Vast amounts of traditional food is prepared for family and friends, as well as those close to us who have died.

On New Year's Day, the Chinese family will eat a vegetarian dish called jai. Although the various ingredients in jai are root vegetables or fibrous vegetables, many people attribute various superstitious aspects to them.

Other foods include a whole fish, to represent togetherness and abundance, and a chicken for prosperity. The chicken must be presented with a head, tail and feet to symbolize completeness. Noodles should be uncut, as they represent long life.

In south China, the favorite and most typical dishes were nian gao, sweet steamed glutinous rice(糯米)pudding and zong zi (glutinous rice wrapped up in reed(芦苇)leaves), another popular delicacy.

元旦是阳历一月一日，实指新的一年的开始，如果将两个字拆开来看，“元”字是指开始也就是第一，“旦”字是一天或早晨的意思，两个字全称也就是新年的第一天。元旦象征着新的一年的开始，人们会在这一天的沐浴后，除去往年的晦气，来迎接一年的开始，希望在新的一年里我们能顺顺利利，健健康康。

元旦的由来是19辛亥革命的成功，孙中山领导人民-清朝统治，建立了中华民国，为了“行夏正，岁农时”，从西历，便于统计民国元年决定使用公历1月1日为新年，但那时并不叫“元旦”。直到1949年9月27日，中国人民政治协会第一次全体会议，在决定建立中华共和国的同时，也决定采用世界通用的公元纪年法，并将公历1月1日定为“元旦”。

在我心中元旦这一天会下雪，窗外大雪纷飞，世界成为白色的海洋，白色的雪洗涤着人们的心灵，将污垢从心中除去，使世界万物都被净化。

新的一年要有新气象也要有新目标，元旦是新的一年的开始，在这一年要积极地学习知识，逐步实现自己的理想。帮助他人，团结同学，爱护集体，以集体利益为中心，激发自身潜能，全身心地投入到学习中去

往年家中过元旦的时候，都会有大鱼大肉，一家人围坐在餐桌旁边说自己将要在这一年的目标，互相诉说自己的理想，并互相承诺每年都要进步，会一起聚在电视旁边看元旦晚会。

希望今年的元旦大家过的快乐，端正自己的心态，努力去完成自己心中的那个理想。

盼星星，盼月亮，我望见20xx年骑着自行车。欢天喜地地驶来了。新的一年，你想做哪些有意义的事呢?

这几天，我在《海峡都市报》上看到“新年送新衣”的活动。我想：20xx年带着幸福来敲门，我们丰衣足食，但也不要忘记住在山区的贫困儿童。从报纸上得知，不少家境贫寒的孩子，连买一件温暖的衣服过新年都是遥不可及的愿望。我想：我的衣服琳琅满目，什么都有：艾艾屋、嗒嘀嗒、毛毛虫。应该与山区孩子分享幸福与温暖。

想到这里，我决定给贫困儿童送去一件过冬的新衣，让幸福也敲敲他们的心房。说做就做，我连忙拨打报纸上的热线电话“968111，”我大声地对工作人员说：“我要为贫困儿童捐一件过冬的新衣。”工作人员笔头说：“真是有爱心的小朋友。捐出一百元，就能给贫困儿童买一件过冬的新衣。”在我的要求下，爸爸向爱心账户转去一百元钱。想到贫困儿童也能穿上过冬的新衣，听见幸福来敲门的乐曲，我不由乐得哈哈大笑起来。

20xx年，幸福开着飞机来了。小朋友，仔细听一听，你一定会听见幸福敲响每家每户的门。
