最近，我读了一本书，叫《麦琪的礼物》。作者是欧・亨利。刚读这个题目时，我认为这是一本关于女孩经过各种磨练，最后自己的梦想实现的故事。后来，我才发现这是一本由许多有趣的小故事组成的。
这本书中，我印象最深的是《感恩节的故事》。一年中十一月的最后一个星期四是感恩节，斯塔弗・皮特他正在广场对面的长凳上等候一位老先生，因为这位老先生每年感恩节都要请这位流浪汉吃顿饭，可今天斯塔弗・皮特已经在两位老太太的家里已经饱餐一顿了。当他吃完老先生请他吃的饭时，已经快站不稳了，最后他带着肚子里丰盛的饭菜上了天堂，医院随后也把老先生送来了，医生说，他几乎要饿死了，因为他三天三夜没吃东西了。

这个寒假，我读了一本《欧亨利短篇小说选》。早就听闻欧亨利的“欧亨利式结尾”，这次看欧亨利的书也着实让我为故事的结果大吃一惊。在所有的故事中，印象最深的，就是其中一篇很著名的文章――麦琪的礼物。
初读这个题目，麦琪这个词我并不理解，后来了解到麦琪是圣贤的意思。我就有些纳闷，为什么是圣贤的礼物？带着这个疑问，我读完了全文。读到结尾，真是让我觉得和我料想的太不一样了！
这篇文章讲述了一位妻子为了给丈夫满意的圣诞礼物而卖掉了自己的一头秀发，为丈夫买了一个白金表链；而丈夫为了给妻子圣诞礼物，卖掉了自己的金表，买了一套梳子！它们的礼物，都失去了价值。
但是，是真的失去了价值吗？那为什么又是圣贤的礼物？文章的最后一句话告诉了我这个答案：不过，让我们对现今的聪明人说最后一句话，在一切馈赠礼品的人当中，那两个人是最聪明的。在一切馈赠又接收礼品的人当中，像他们两个这样的人也是最聪明的。
在一切馈赠礼物的人当中，他们为对方付出了自己最珍贵的东西，付出了自己的真心，所以，他们是最真诚、最聪明的。而在一切馈赠礼品又接受礼品的人当中，他们为对方付出了自己最珍贵的，也受到了对方给自己最珍贵的，尽管这些礼物失去了价值，但是，他们彼此收获了一个永不过时，而且无价的东西――爱。

印象中，上高中的那会我便读过《麦琪的礼物》。前几日再次拜读《欧亨利短篇小说精选》，又重温了一遍这个故事。三千字左右的一篇文章，短小精湛，朴实无华，读完之后却让我的心口暖烘烘的。
故事情节十分简单，描写了一对夫妇各自卖掉了自己珍贵的东西给对方买圣诞礼物的故事，让人在感叹主人公捉襟见肘的贫穷生活时又为他们的真爱深深感动，感情本身不就如此简单吗？无论贫穷抑或富贵，互相都将对方视为最重要的人，相亲相爱，相依相伴。
这篇文章是典型的“欧亨利式结尾”，他将小说的灵魂全都凝结在结尾，在最后一刻才肯揭开谜底。阅读它时，我时而心中一颤，时而又心生欢喜，看起来平淡无奇的文字像被施了魔法一般，变得诙谐有趣、生机勃勃，出人意料的结尾又使人豁然开朗，有一种“山穷水尽疑无路，柳暗花明又一村”的惊喜感。
