but he also loved his congregation, and you could feel this love in the sermons that he gave every week for the 62 years that he was a rabbi. he would takes the fruits of each week's reading and he would weave these intricate tapestries of ancient and humanist thought. and people would come from all over to hear him speak.
but here's the thing about my grandfather. underneath this ceremonial role, he was really modest and really introverted -- so much so that when he delivered these sermons, he had trouble making eye contact with the very same congregation that he had been speaking to for 62 years. and even away from the podium, when you called him to say hello, he would often end the conversation prematurely for fear that he was taking up too much of your time. but when he died at the age of 94, the police had to close down the streets of his neighborhood to accommodate the crowd of people who came out to mourn him. and so these days i try to learn from my grandfather's example in my own way.

早上好！今天我讲话的题目是《幸福只属于勤奋的人》。
开学二个月以来，我们已经进入了高中紧张而有节奏的学习生活，它让我们体会到：勤奋是幸福的、勤奋是快乐的，勤奋抒写辉煌，努力开创未来。
勤奋非朝夕之事，关键在于如何坚持以及坚持多久。记得一位哲人说过：世界上能登上金字塔的生物有两种：一种是鹰，一种是蜗牛。不管是天资奇佳的鹰，还是资质平庸的蜗牛，能登上塔尖，极目四望，俯视万里，都离不开两个字――勤奋。
勤奋不需要惊天动地，只要从点滴、从小事做起。多学几分钟，早起几分钟，晚走几分钟，少说几分钟，无一不是勤奋的痕迹。坚持充分利用好时间，多学多问，用心，便可谓之勤奋。只要路是对的.，就不怕路远；只要心是热的，勤奋便可开始。
古今中外名人通过勤奋成功的事例举不胜举，让我们看看身边的同学、亲戚、好友，他们的优异成绩取得是靠什么？无一不是靠“勤奋”取得的。高一是勤奋的起点，树立目标，勇往直前；高二是勤奋的关键，持之以恒，坚持不懈。高三是勤奋的冲刺，告诉你拼搏带来的奇迹！
大家不要埋怨时间不够用，当我们每天醒来，口袋里便装着二十四小时的时间，这是属于自己的最完美的财富。在复习期间，要勤于练习，从课本上的例题入手，习题入手，从最简单的入手，每一道题，都亲自动手做一做，千万别眼高手低，大事做不来，小事不愿做，大题不会做，小题不愿做。要勤于解剖自己，哪科是自己的强科，哪科是自己的弱科，哪部分是自己的弱项，还要分析自己的优点是什么，缺点是什么，影响自己成绩进步的因素有哪些？因为成功的起始点来自于自我分析，孔子曰：吾日三省吾身。勤于反思自己，了解自己，殊不知世界上最顶尖的成功人士都是由不断地学习别人的长处，同时不断改正自己的短处而成功的。
学无涯，思无涯，其乐亦无涯。勤于学习，勤于思考，不管生命多么卑微，我们都要勇敢地面对它去生活去学习，不用逃避，更不要用恶语诅咒它，纵然贫穷也要热爱我们的学校、我们的生活、我们的学习。当我们能够勤奋学习的时候，就依然还拥有喜悦、开心、荣幸的时光，学习者是美丽的，勤奋者是高尚的。当鲜花、荣誉纷至沓来的时候，幸福的眼泪会充盈双眼，让人是那样无所适从，而一切又如此的贴切自然。

尊敬的老师、亲爱的同学们：
大家好！今天我演讲的题目是“勇气”
何谓勇气？勇气就是在合适的时间，用自己的胆识把一件事情办对、办好。所以“勇气”不但要有“勇”，还要有“气”。“勇”象征着能做出这件事的胆识，“气”象征着把这件事办对办好的能力。有“勇”无“气”，终归是一介莽夫，成不了大事；有“气“无”勇“，只能籍籍无名，成了有“勇”又有“气”之人的垫脚石。
那什么才是有“勇”又有“气”的人呢？
汉武帝刘彻，十六岁登基，执掌大汉江山五十四年，成就了汉朝的鼎盛。他有“勇“。分布“推恩令”，敢于向父兄一辈的诸侯王们挑战；亦有“气”，广纳贤才，改革货币、北拒匈奴，成为了中国历史上的明君之一。
我国“两弹一星”元勋钱学森，为中国军事发展立下赫赫战功。他有“勇”， 在新中国成立之时放弃美国的高官厚禄，只身来到百废待兴的新中国；亦有“气”，不但为人高风亮节，而在发射场事必躬亲，最终成就了新中国在这一领域达到世界领先的水平。
也许同学们可能会问了：以上两位都是震古烁今的伟人，我们怎么会成为这样的人？我的回答是：不！或许我们做不成这些大事，但“勇气”的磨炼定然要从小事开始。对老师提出一个对班级有益的意义，为被难题困扰的同学解答问题，在楼道的门口用扫把把积雪扫到一边，它们都包含了“胆识”和“能力”两个方面。如果在平常的小事中不断历练自己的勇气，等到你遇到 了做大事的机遇，那些你积累的小勇气就会厚积薄发，变为大事的成功。到时候，或许名垂青史就不再是个梦想！
那么就让我们行动起来吧！用自己的能力，证明自己是个有胆识、有能力的人―当然，从小勇气转化为大勇气是一个蜕变的过程。希望几十年后，今天的我们，也会变成一群有勇气的人！
