早就对巴金先生的激流三部曲《家》、《春》、《秋》有所耳闻，前不久偶然在书店看见了一本《家》便来了兴趣，便买下来这本书，饱饱眼福，没想到不看不知道，一看还真放不下了。
这本书主要展现了当时高家这个极富代表性的封建家庭腐烂，崩溃的过程。在这个看起来知书达理，体面的大家庭中，处处存在着斗争，尔虞我诈，勾心斗角。他们被浓烈的封建思想占据了，为了家产，为了私利，他们都戴了一幅美丽的面具，而面具后面，是一张无比丑恶的脸。可以不顾儿女的幸福，他们摧残了多少渴望自由的年轻生命。大哥觉新和梅从小青梅竹马，而就是因为他们的母亲在搓麻将时发生了一点摩擦从而拆散了一对相爱的人。最终梅被封建的社会埋没了。还有瑞钰，鸣凤，这一个个鲜活的面孔，她们都成为封建礼教的牺牲品。但在这里也不乏有对封建思想斗争的年轻人，以觉慧为代表，他大胆活泼，敢于斗争，反抗，鸣凤的死，使他对封建势力更加愤慨，在他看来，家就是一个深不见底的黑洞，他无法忍受这个家的束缚，他要找到属于自己的天地，呼吸自由的空气，所以，最终他选择离开。
事实也证明他们终会走向地狱，走向衰败。那些反抗封建正义的人们，也终会迎来自由的空气和阳光!
