别看这节日是多么的喜庆，在它背后，还流传着一个很有趣的故事：在太古时期，有一种凶猛的怪兽，它只会给人们带来坏运气，人们管他们叫“年”，只要它一来，就会使树木凋零，百草不生，而它一走，万物重生，百花争艳。后来，人们渐渐发现了年每次来的时间，就准备了爆竹以驱赶怪兽。“过年”这个词语便是这样来得，从此，放鞭炮也就成了过年的一种习俗。
