Dear _,
As a member of the third generation after founding of the People’s Republic of China, I grew up as a witness of the rapid economic development of China as a result of its reform and opening up policy. I consider myself more fortunate than people of my previous generations because today China is experiencing dynamic development and facing unprecedented opportunities and challenges brought by its accession into the WTO and deepening economic globalization.
I was aware of the importance to study economics and management in a diversified cultural environment early in my undergraduate study in business administration. After I started working, I felt more deeply in the urban planning and construction projects I undertook that the rapid development of public transportation boosted material expansion and accelerated the inherent instability in urban life. Endless segmentation has been seen in an extensive range in rapidly emerging residential areas and community construction. This is no doubt the result of the serious lack of scientific planning in urban expansion in China.
As a young man of the largest developing country in the world, I’m more oriented to observation and reflections everyday. I long for opportunities to learn more about western societies and study in an environment that is disparate with China in beliefs and habits because in the mirrors of differences, I will be probably more capable of reflecting on the culture and beliefs of my own nation.
It is because of the above reasons that I’m applying for pursuit of further studies in urban and regional planning (URP) in the University of _. I hope I will be able to learn from the experience, ideas and methodologies of the _ in the field I’m so interested in and combine them with the actual circumstances of China to change the inappropriate practices and concepts in urban planning in China. With the marriage between more internationalized cultures and Chinese traditions, I hope I will be able to find a balance between China’s traditional culture and the modern trend in urban planning and development. I think I already have a clear motif and I have also equipped myself with all the qualities required for successful study and research at your university.
I’m proud to say that I have built for myself a sound specialized theoretical foundation through my four years of study in business administration in _ University. With an average GPA of 83 in four years, I ranked the third in all 100 students of the major. I received Scholarship for Excellent Students many times and I was honored an Excellent Graduate in 2003. I was a top student in the courses of Economics, Management, Statistics, etc. At the same time, I read extensively after class and I studied a full set of curricula offered by _ Business School. I had the notion that economic business is but business competition-based independent practice using pure economic theories or models. But with my deepening of study, I found it is a discipline that incorporates profound philosophical ideas, cultural differences and a wide range of natural sciences. This certainly echoes a well-known saying in _ Business School: doing business is like being a man.
Moreover, I have shown competent research ability in the two specialized academic papers I published. In writing my graduation thesis entitled _, I investigated thirty state-owned enterprises and foreign-invested enterprise and conducted 500 tests and data analysis. Based on a study on the human resource management models in _ and _ enterprises, I have summarized the peculiarities and discrepancies of Chinese enterprises through comparisons. The 25,000-word thesis analyzed moot points including the autonomous power of talents and psychological contract from the perspectives of strategic management, mathematical statistics and cultural operation models. The thesis received a high score of 95 from the assessment panel and was published in _, a core national academic journal. My another thesis entitled _, which discussed the role of personnel tests and evaluation in human resource management in a market economy system from the perspectives of the screening, promotion, training, optimal allocation of personnel and salary package design and pointed out the wrong concepts in personnel evaluation in China and proposed solutions, was published in a top provincial-level journal.
A theory will find its life only in practice. I accumulated more experience in my specialized field of interest in every internship and assignment. During my internship at the Bureau of Forestry of _ City of _ Province from June to September 2002, I collected data and produced statistics on the livestock husbandry and aquiculture of the entire city and made a significant contribution to the 2003-2007 five-year livestock husbandry and aquiculture planning program of _ City. In my internship in the Construction Committee of _ City of _ Province from February to May 2003, I took part in the planning project for a 200,000-square meter _ Residential District. I was specifically responsible for statistical calculation on compliance with national standards of noise control, compliance with national standards in mosquito and fly density and garbage bagging, classification and designated disposal, occurrence of criminal cases, etc. The residential district was honored a “National Leading Residential District” because of its outstanding planning. During this period, I also took part in many other public projects and construction administration. Since my graduation in July 2003, I have been working as a manager of marketing in _ Metal Industry Ltd Company. I successfully fulfilled my responsibility for the processing and selling of 400 tons of refined copper imported from _ and _. I was also responsible for some personnel management work at the company.
Based on my large amount of observation and deepened reflections on a wide variety of issues in practice, I think that China has many wrong concepts and rooms for improvement in URP, e.g. mismatch between autonomous administration of residential areas and government function transformation, lack of attention on community construction in urban-rural connection areas and the unrestrained expansion and irrationality in residential space and communities in urban development planning. While China has its own peculiar circumstances compared with western countries because of its historic and cultural reasons, the learning of more advanced ideas and technologies in the field of urban planning will play an important role in solving the above problems.
The University of _ has a long esteem in URP and it is known widely for its strong faculty. The URP Program is nearly-sufficient with its own planning library and exclusive computer laboratory. I especially extol its efforts to conduct and disseminate research on the “theory and practice” of urban society to plan for more equitable and sustainable communities. I’m equally interested in areas of land use planning, land management, planning process theory, regional planning and economic development and transportation planning. After studying at your university, I will return to China and make more contributions to the prosperous development of China in first decades in the new millennium. I confidently believe that I will become an expert in URP and will have a much more successful career in this field with the amalgamation of the western and oriental cultures deep within me through studying at your university.
Yours sincerely,

2、语言要求:要有良好的英语水平,托福(TOEFL)成绩至少在500-550分之间;
3、瑞典语水平:要能用瑞典语听课、做笔记、读参考书,通过由瑞典_主持的全国性瑞典文水平考试;要做到这一点,至少需在瑞典专门学习一年瑞典语;
1、经瑞典驻华使馆领事处或公证处认证的高中以上盖有发证机关公章的毕业证书和成绩单;
2、经机构翻译的上述文件的英文或法文、德文、瑞典文的翻译件;
3、国际认证的英语水平考试成绩单;
4、瑞典语水平证明;

Dear _,
“Life is Like a Box of Chocolates. You Never Know What You are Going to Get”. Such words come from a famous movie “Forrest Gump”. I don’t know what kind of chocolate life will give me, but I believe I can achieve my target if I work hard with my unwavering belief and persevering efforts like Forrest Gump. As a student of Mechanical Engineering, I have just finished my undergraduate study since July. Next what I have to face is to choose the new chocolate which I have yearned for all long. With four-year study of M.E. in China, I would like to scale higher intellectual heights by undertaking advanced studies in __ University, as I believe its rich learning environment and free academic atmosphere will open my eyes to new realities and influence me to confront the situation back home.
My strong interest in research was born during the undergraduate years at _University. Upon entering the university in 2000, I began to embark on my journey of industrious study in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. My exceptionally solid foundation in mathematics and physics provided me with a stepping stone with which I proceeded onto the exploration of other sophisticated and erudite subjects. My performance in all the specialty-related coursework not only enabled me to secure good GPA ranking me about top 17 in my grade among 169 students but also furnished me with a powerful instrument whereby to materialize my dreams in the research. I constantly congratulated my luck to obtain a lot of scholarships and awards, due to my academic achievement, from the university, especially the scholarship of “_University – American United Technological Corporation”, awarded only for the best students who are both good at academic and social capacity. Not contented with doing a good job in mere coursework, I endeavored to keep abreast with the latest theories and technologies by reading extensively technical literature in recent journals and attending the lecture some famous professors made. During my undergraduate career, I have grasped every chance to do some researching work. I used to participate in at least six projects including the intern work in the factory, mechanical designs and graduate design.
Especially during the period from September to November of 2003, I read many books and journals in the field of mechanical engineering such as “Handbook of Practical Gear Design” (Written by __). In these books, I did intensive reading on the theory of the speed reducer. I investigated and discussed with my teacher on how to apply the theory into the practice. Then according to my teacher’s advice, I tried to organize a team consisting of five members to make a harmonic gear reducer. As a team leader, I should not only take charge of the whole arrangement of project but also make every member of the team cooperate with each other harmoniously. Before starting the program, I, together with my team, made a detailed plan covering the schedule, materials, and equipment. The first step of our work is the design of the reducer. The design plan is as follows: (1) Set down the blue print. (2) Complete 3-D solid model with Pro/E software. (3) Finite-element analysis with ANSYS software. (4) Assembling simulation by using Pro/E. (5) Complete the 2-D draft of part and assembly. After two-week design work, we stepped to the next work, manufacture of the product. With the aid of the technique of computer, we plan the manufacturing process of every part. And then, all parts were made with various machine tools such as CNC lathe, wire electrical discharge machine, vertical machining center, and so on. Finally, we had toassembly all parts to the harmonic gear reducer, and test-drove it for many times. With five-week unremitting efforts, we succeeded in the project of harmonic gear reducer and obtained the highest praise. This special experience makes it very helpful for my further study. Firstly, I find the connection between theory and practice. Textbooks could hardly cover everything, therefore, if we want to learn more, we should pursue every opportunity to have practices. Meanwhile, I experienced the importance and mightiness of cooperation. In the project, we divided ourselves into several parts, not only doing one’s own work well, but also cooperating with each other harmoniously.
Another case worthy mentioning is my design project for graduation, “Manufacturing and Performance of Electroplated CBN Tools”. The main objective of this project is the manufacturing of the electroplated CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) wheels and the research of its performance when grinding the heat-resisted steel. I had completed three steps of task. Firstly, I took charge of the manufacturing of electroplated CBN wheels, covering the following work: selecting electroplating solution, computing various electroplating parameters such as electrical current and temperature, adhering CBN to the tool base by electroplating a nickel layer. After these basic preparations, I had to do the second part of the research work to compare grinding abilities of electroplated CBN wheels with those of other wheels such as SiC wheels, Al2O3 wheels etc. This part of the work needs the researcher’s highly particularity and staidness. I did the detailed work as follows: (1) Grind heat-resisted steel with various wheels in the same grinding conditions. (2) Record data and compute the grinding ratio of various wheels. (3) Measure the surface roughness of the heat-resisted steel ground by various wheels. (4) Observe dulling and pullout of abrasive grains of various wheels by using optical microscope. In this part, we can conclude that electroplated wheels have far better grinding abilities than other wheels, by comparing parameters, such as grinding ratio, surface roughness etc. The final assignment of the project is to find out the most suitable parameters of grinding heat-resisted steel with electroplated CBN wheels, through comparing the grinding ratio and surface roughness of heat-resisted steel ground in different grinding parameters. By investigating the attributes of electroplated CBN wheels and concluding their practical grinding parameters, this project is very important in promoting the application of them.
China’s unique advantage of labor force predicts the resplendent future of its Mechanical Engineering, especially the manufacture, and it is our belief that this day will come soon. On the other hand, there are so many experienced technicians in China, however, with the absence of advanced experts many advanced producing method cannot be used in practical yield. When I worked as intern in some factories, I found that most of them were still using facilities which were used in America about thirty years ago. Therefore I want to use the advanced knowledge earned in United States, combined with my acquaintance with China, to improve the present situation and apply best the advanced scientific technology to practical social wealth as soon as possible. I hope to become a successful researcher in Mechanical Engineering, the arduous but exhilarative field. The significant progress achieved in M.E, with the extraordinary cultural and intellectual sources in your university, has attracted me greatly. Based on the study and the research experience in _ University, I am sure that I am qualified and would be an outstanding Ph.D. student. With the advanced courses, balanced program and distinguished faculty of your department, I would get a solid background for my future academic career.
Yours sincerely,

Dear _,
A senior student at the business school headed by China's tough Prime Minister, I will graduate next year with a diploma to be conferred by the Quebec Association of Certified General Accountants in Canada in the first joint educational program of its kind between China and a foreign country. To build up a great career upon this rare privilege, I am now applying for advanced studies in your quality program, hoping that I can someday become one of China's top accounting experts.
At Tsinghua, the country's most valued cradle of advanced talents that houses my favored School of Business Management, I have been head and shoulders above most of my fellow students in my class of 122. I ranked among the top 2 per cent in macroeconomics, top 3 per cent in macroeconomics, top 5 per cent in international finance, and top 2 per cent in international trading. My performance in mathematics has been particularly strong, with my GPA in related courses probably the very best in the class. The CGA diploma requires completion of 12 courses taught in English, of which I have finished eight, with a GPA better than that of most others.
My distinguished academic performance won me the privilege of being chosen as the only Special-Training Student in my class of 122 to join the university's Program for the Gifted. Through this elite program, I participated in a challenging research project headed Professor Chun Xiyang, head of the school's accounting department. The project was aimed at finding the best way to control cost at the North China Petrochemical Corporation, one of the country's best known companies. As part of my research, I studied the corporate management systems in the United States, Japan, Britain and Germany, and analyzed the structure of Chinese companies. By the time I finished my part of the project to professor Chun's satisfaction, I had not only broadened my knowledge but also acquired the ability, unique among China's undergraduate students, to conduct research independently.
Taking advantage of the university's emphasis on cultivating independent thinking and practical research abilities, I have actively engaged in a variety of research activities. I teamed up with several students to investigate into China's township enterprises and wrote a research paper under the guidance of our professors. With the help of my professor in public finance, I studied the country's taxation system that is designed to divide revenues between central and provincial governments, and I did this in comparison with the taxation regimes of America and France. My article, China's Taxation Reform, analyzed the possible approaches of improving that system. In my third academic year, I wrote The Accounting Structure in Share-holding Enterprises, an article that dealt with the solutions to the problems in the accounting system of the said companies. In my second year, I worked as an intern at China Industrial and Commercial Bank and acquainted myself thereby with the prevalent accounting practices of the country's financial institutions. Such involvement in practical research has added both depth and breadth to my learning of accounting.
Much of my academic achievements can be credited to my solid command of the English, which has allowed me to read international accounting journals with ease. Among my regular readings are Accounting Review, Accountancy, Public Finance Review, and others. I have translated Proposed Statement of Financial Accounting Concepts. My English proficiency is also reflected in the scores I obtained in various English tests such as TOEFL (633,10/97),GRE general (total 2220, verbal 660, 93%; quantitative 790, 98%; analytical 770, 96%), and GMAT (740, 99%; verbal 40, 92%;quantitative 50, 99%). I am sure that, with such language skills, I can pursue advanced studies in an English-speaking environment.
In recognition of my outstanding academic record, the university has selected me to enter into graduate studies without the usually mandatory admission exams, a privilege given to only a few of the very best students each year. I have, however, decided to turn down the offer. I believe I will be able to learn more on the accounting/finance program by pursuing graduate studies in your university. Your program of graduate research and studies is known to be holding a leading position in the field. Under the guidance of your distinguished faculty and with the benefit of your remarkable research facilities, I am sure I will be able to ground myself solidly in my chosen career. After my Ph. D. studies, I plan to return to Tsinghua, where I shall devote myself to a lifetime of teaching and research.
Yours sincerely,
xuexila

Dear _,
Advances in Computer and Information Technology over the past few decades have brought about revolution in science, medicine, education, business, and entertainment. I wish to be part of the future revolution and that is why I want to study Computer Science. The idea of studying Computer Science came to me as soon as I started considering my career options: I have been around computers from an early age and have absorbed myself in them ever since. I am particularly interested in the integration of computing in music production (which I have a passion for), research into breakthrough technologies such as “Direct Note Access” has shown me the amazing possibilities that could be achieved with the right ideas and knowledge behind them. My interest in Computer Science comes from my view of it as a challenging and creative subject, I am particularly eager to study software engineering and computer graphics.
Studying ICT has enhanced both my knowledge and experience in the uses and applications of computer systems. For my AS coursework project I successfully developed an order processing system for a local business which gave me good experience in system analysis and development, including use of complex formulae, creation of macros and use of VBScript. I am currently leading the project to revamp my school’s website which has given me the opportunity to show off my self-taught web design skills and has also given me the chance to gain further experience working to an end user’s criteria and to develop leadership skills.
Mathematics has been my strongest subject for as long as I can remember. Due to my quick grasp of concepts within the subject I have been in advanced classes since primary school, continuing up to my A levels which has allowed me to have already passed 5 out of my 6 modules with a grade A in each. I have always found the subject interesting as it demands pure logic. My natural ability for logical thinking and problem solving has been strengthened through the study of this subject and the constant challenge of applying new methods and concepts.
Physics is yet another subject that demands logical thinking, while at the same time demands evidence and theory to back it up, providing application of maths aspects of the real world. My coursework investigating the deformation of solids enabled me to combine both my mathematical and research skills to help produce detailed analysis and evaluation to prove that the concept of Hooke’s Law was valid. I was particularly fascinated with the Waves Properties module as the theories on stationary waves and superposition explain a lot about how sound works.
My work experience with Futuretrend Technologies gave me a good insight on how IT based organisations work and the importance of IT within the business world. My employment with Blockbuster Inc. and volunteer work with Cancer Research have both given me the opportunity to interact with customers to provide a helpful service as part of a team, reinforcing both my communication and team working skills.
Being brought up in a household with a father of East-African Islamic culture and Christian-raised English mother, as well as living in multi-cultural areas and attending multi-cultural schools, I have had the pleasure of experiencing many different cultures and religions allowing me to develop a wide understanding and acceptance of lifestyle and belief of others which has also given me insight into global politics and history. I have various hobbies such as basketball, cycling and music. I enjoy listening to music, but even more I enjoy composing music, playing the piano and am currently teaching myself how to play the acoustic guitar.
Taking a persistent approach to all my work, I always strive for the best results and never turn away from a worthy challenge. I believe that my endless curiosity, infectious self motivation, and ability to work effectively as part of team would make me an ideal candidate for Computer Science.
Yours sincerely,
xuexila

Dear _,
I can remember as a little kid that when someone would get hurt on the playground, everyone would get upset at the sight of blood. Unlike everyone else, I would be the first to offer to bring them to the nurse and sit with them as the nurse cleaned and bandaged their cut. As I got older, I would beg my mom to let me stay up and watch the television show, ER. I did not like it necessarily for the dramatized, Hollywood plots, but for the life of workers in the hospital and to be able to watch the emergencies unfold, even if it was not real. These things always led me to believe that I wanted to be in a health profession, but as a kid you change your mind a thousand times about what you want to be when you grow up. Now as I am becoming an adult and reaching a point at which I need to make decisions that will affect the rest of my life, I have realized that these were not just childish notions.
As I entered through the big sliding doors of the hospital for a gifted and talented trip, I was not only walking into a building, but I was entering my future. I felt like a kid in a candy store, as I stood in awe with butterflies of excitement in my stomach. Of course I had been in a hospital before, but this time was different, it was as if I was in a new environment for the first time. I walked through the halls and corridors, soaking up as much of it as I could, taking in every last detail. I specifically watched the nurses help patients and saw the appreciation of their help in the people''s eyes. Sometimes they had no help or answers to give, but they would brighten their patients'' day with something as simple as a smile. I found myself thinking, that''s going to be me, I am going to be a nurse. People say that when something is right, you just know and now I believe it. Someone once said that “one''s mind has a way of making itself up in the background, and it suddenly becomes clear what one means to do.” It was just like that, I felt like I always really knew, and now it was just a matter of making it happen. There was no question in my mind for why I had made the decision. The many side trails in my life had led me to this moment and I chose what my path in life would be.
I have such a great desire to be able to make a difference in people''s lives and to be able to help those who need it. I cannot wait for my first patient and to be able to look into their face and feel the gratification of my work. There are only few professions in which you can experience this. It could never happen sitting behind a desk. Walking from patient to patient, room to room, scrubs on, a stethoscope hanging from neck, a chart in hand, and an open heart; as a nurse, is one way I feel I can.
Yours sincerely,

Dear _,
Making an option for an undergraduate specialty is just like making an option for the course of life. It is the greatest joy in life to indulge in the study of the specialty that best suits one‘s taste. The specialty of Economic Information Management specialty is an interdisciplinary faculty that combines the knowledge of computer science, economics and management. It covers three major areas that gallop at the fastest speed and throb synchronically with the pulses of the present-day society. As an interdisciplinary subject, it endeavors to investigate the efficacy of computer application in both economy and management. This perfectly fitted in with my innate quickness of thought and my close concern for reality. For several years in the past, I have experienced many setbacks and frustrations in the process of studying this subject, but I have also experienced the joy, the illumination and the stimulation that it brought me with its rapid development and practical values. Anyway, I will continue to be fascinated by this subject with its endless secrets.
Years of study and research, as well as practical work, have enabled me to develop a superb command of computer technology and its application in management. To me, the subjects on data structure, computer network, target-oriented methods and C++, information systems analysis and designing, trade information and EDI, information economics, industrial enterprise information management, and commercial enterprise information management are the most beautiful flowers in this infinitely beautiful garden of knowledge. They exposed to me a brand-new academic sphere featuring interdependence and common advancement, leaving me completely enamored with the enormous practical value of the computer technology. At present, I have become well versed in many professional skills, including Java Delphi, C / C ++, VB, HTMI and JavaScript. In terms of operational system and databanks, I am very skilled in Windows NT, UNIX, MSSQL Server, Sybase and DB2. Due to the nature of the specialty, I must closely follow the latest academic developments, especially in the latest progress of computer technology. I often take an active part in academic meetings and technical training. For example, I was involved in a number of academic events sponsored by CCF Young Computer Scientists & Engineers Forum, which covered the development of Linux technology in China, network safety and multimedia technologies. Recently, I have conducted a comparative study of several popularly-employed servers and my research findings will soon be published in the China Computer Technology Journal. In addition to this research, my graduation thesis is another fruition of my devoted academic endeavors. It deals with IC card technology and its application. It aims to resolve the safety and the encryption technology of IC card as well as the concrete design of IC card machine room controls. In this project, we studied the working principles of IC card that can be read repetitively as well as an IC card reader capable of repeated reading to realize the functions of online fee calculation through IC card reading technologies. The research findings were subsequently employed in the management of our university‘s own computer center. The judges of my thesis unanimously rated the thesis as thoroughgoing and exhaustive, replete with original concepts, and with very rich values both in theory and in practice.
My interest and industry were well rewarded with outstanding scholastic results. My fellow students were all very brilliant and I was far behind them when I first entered the university. But my dauntless character drove me upward. I later caught up with them and ranked fourth in a class of 46 students. My GPA was 3.4 in the four years of study and was 3.5 in the latter two, showing an upward progress. I scored for four times the highest-grade scholarships and was rated as an outstanding graduate, something very rare in a class. My thesis was also graded “outstanding.”
At the stage of undergraduate studies, I was engaged in specific software development related to my specialty. I realized some financial modules with Visual Foxpro in the E-commerce modular education software. Upon graduation from university, I worked at the Product R&D Department of a very famous computer company mainly involved in the research and development of net banks and online payment. The projects in which I participated at this company include: the R&D of online banking projects of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the Agricultural Bank of China, and the R&D of intermediate payment products bys Globalset, QSI and Trintech. In the ISO9000 software quality confirmation work, I was responsible for managing and researching the software quality system standards. In the annual China International Financial Exhibition, I was responsible for organizing and planning. During this period of my work, I have become acquainted with many leading techniques, including the demand analysis, systems designing, software designing and project management for ISO90000 standardized techniques related to the Java Enterprise grade and to Network Safety. My performance has received highly positive comments from my superior.
Nevertheless, in the actual working experience, I have become increasingly aware of the weaknesses of the relevant computer technology in China. In the field of E-commerce, China‘s footsteps of development have been withheld mainly because China has neither E-commerce solutions suitable for its particular conditions nor advanced software and network technologies. There is a big gap between China and advanced western countries in software quality because China has not paid adequate attention to this issue. China has not yet developed relevant intellectual technology or established a complete set of reliable mechanisms with regard to the implementation of software designing, testing and maintenance. I have developed an adequate command of the relevant skills in those aspects and I have always maintained an intense interest in them. I hope that by seeking advanced studies abroad, I will succeed in finding a suitable E-commerce solution for China‘s emerging industry in this field. On the other hand, I will be equipped to make contributions to the development of China‘s software sector, especially to help improve its software quality.
A careful investigation has informed me that your university is a leading university featuring an educational system and research atmosphere far more advanced than those in China and boasting a number of accomplished professors whose academic attainments are also far beyond the reach of their Chinese counterparts. It is my belief that I will acquire the most advanced knowledge in the field of E-commerce and software quality, the kind of knowledge that I exploit to promote the development of China‘s own expertise. I am soberly aware that no one can accomplish tremendous achievements in all fields, but as long as I orientate myself to one field for which I have accumulated considerable expertise and constructed a solid groundwork, I am sure that I will attain a fulfilling career out of it.
Yours sincerely,
xuexila
Dear _,
Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies, economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its global position. As a senior at Beijing University majoring in Economics, I feel that my field is fundamental to the progress of my country. Yet, at the same time, I realize only too well that what I have learned as an undergraduate is far from enough. Therefore, it is my desire to pursue a graduate degree I Economics at your university. If accepted, my intended concentration would be Economic Development and Public Economics.
In the process of preparing myself for advanced research, I obtained a solid academic background in mathematics, computer science and basic economic theory. In order to enhance my capabilities and further establish my background, I plan to take Probability and Econometrics as my electives during my last semester at Beijing University. During my undergraduate career I was fortunate to be able to audit several advanced graduate level courses taught by overseas professors such as Comparative Economic Systems and Advanced Macroeconomics. These classes not only introduced me to new economic concepts and theories, but also broadened my perspective and gave me new insights into the depth of my field.
After over three years of studying economics and extensive reading in related fields, I have developed my own understanding of the present Chinese economy with system. I feel, and it is an idea shared by many, that the Chinese government is presently struggling to adapt a policy which would peacefully integrate the advantages of a marked economy with the current Socialist system. to a certain extent, I feel that the government has been successful in implementing this aim. However, many problems have yet to be resolved. Chief among these is the problem of rejuvenating and restructuring the large, state-owned enterprises. As a result under the Chinese socialist system, these companies not only lack a spirit of competition, but are also hopelessly overstaffed. There is a definite need to cut back on workers, many of whom are unskilled and present an unnecessary burden on these companies.
The fundamental problem here is that China lacks unemployment and social security programs, which would be able to assist and re-train these workers should they be laid off. As there are no options for them, the companies are forced to retain these laborers, creating a stagnant state which limits both production levels and net profits. While foreign-imported goods and foreign companies were scare in China, this was not a major problem. However, the influx of foreign goods and corporations has forced China into a predicament where it can no longer afford to maintain useless employees for the benefit of the State. Should the situation here continue unchecked, China risks loosing its domestic marked to foreign companies.
These ideas were the result of my field research conducted during my junior year. During that time, I studied first-hand edly China’s system of public economics and found it lacking in many ways. I feel that if China is ever to be a serious competitor in the world market it needs first to develop a more progressive system of public policies. For this, China will have to look to other systems, which have struggled and successfully handled this same problem. My goal is to continue my education in the United States where I can not only witness the dynamics of an economic system different from ours, but also study the ways in which America’s public policy could be adapted and utilized by China.
In terms of global economics, China still has much to learn. The government is far from reconciling itself with many of the principles that underlie the modern market. I also feel that the Chinese situation is unique, and , that in order to be successful, policy makers must take into consideration regional characteristics, historical tradition and social psychology when defining the course of the future. However, it is also essential that the future generations of leaders, administrators and teachers learn from other countries in order to better understand the complexity of China’s role within the global economic situation.
The more China’s economy is prosperous, the more it needs its own economists. Therefore, at the end of my graduate study, I intend to return to my country and contribute to China’s economic progress. My ultimate goal is to teach introducing advanced Western research methods to my country and, if possible, tackle some of the economic problems faced by my country.
I am also applying for overseas graduate study because of the fact that the United States holds the leading position in the research of my chosen field. Your institution, known for its careful and exacting work ethic and nurturing academic atmosphere, is the university I have long admired. I am confident that with your distinguished faculty and recognized facilities, my potential will develop into knowledge and experience beneficial to both the United States and China.

Dear _,
There is a rapid growth in global organisational concepts, crystallised in Japanese business philosophy, to be as effective as possible in the most efficient way. New technology involving networking information and automation influences the behaviour of business and enables significant transformation. This need to maximise efficiency and effectiveness in such a competitive age is increasingly crucial to the success of a business. This is why it is an exciting and fascinating period in both the commercial and economic world to study Business Management.
Adaptability, creative thinking and the application of technology are now intrinsic to managing businesses. I have developed these principles and enjoyed the spectrum of sixth form study that has taught me to approach problems from different political, economical and psychological perspectives. Throughout Business Studies, to complement what has been taught I have researched real-life business solutions and how they have been implemented, such as the responsive marketing used by Coca Cola to prolong their business cycle and sustain major profitability. Studying ICT has enabled me to examine the criticality of technology in giving businesses a competitive edge by considering issues such as organisational objectives, people and legal implications rather than making decisions based solely on financial factors. Furthermore, studying Psychology gives me insight into the human influences on organisational behaviour through studying motivational theories such as the hierarchy of needs model proposed by Maslow, whilst the coursework has developed my skills in collecting and analysing data in order to establish trends and draw conclusions. Studying English Language has allowed me to develop an ability to express my ideas clearly and concisely.
I have worked for _as a Tester, assisting in the development of _, the fastest-selling PC game ever. It was a significant learning experience and made me evaluate myself and better understand my strengths and skills, such as the ability to easily identify discrepancies and communicate these effectively to management so that problems can be solved. Recent experience at _Ltd gave me a taste of working within a larger organisation. Operating within two different, but equally successful organisations has enabled me to see contrasting leadership styles and corporate culture. Within college, I participated in a paired reading project where I listened to and assessed readers lower down the school which required a relaxed, patient and friendly approach with the younger students, as well as punctuality and dedication. Throughout the past year, I have represented the college in district basketball and rugby competitions.
I am a committed member of the Colts team at my local rugby side. I have captained the team in previous seasons which required leadership, confidence and diligence. In my spare time, I enjoy listening to a range of music, going to the gym and socialising. I am a regular reader of the Financial Times, enjoy keeping up with current affairs and business news. I enjoy reading a variety of books, both fiction and non-fiction such as 'Making It Happen' (J. Harvey-Jones) where his common sense approach complements the management theories of more staid texts. This degree will equip me for my career in the unpredictable and fast moving world of commerce.
Yours sincerely,

Dear _,
It is an apparent truth that, in modern technology-dominated and highly competitive society, the kind of people who will be most highly appreciated are those who command central business regulations and legal rules, grasp advanced technology ahead of others and apply it to productive utilization, and possess outstanding management talents and interpersonal communication skills. Although, with the alarmingly rapid integration of global economy and the dramatic changes of technological advances, competitions among management talents are also becoming increasingly fierce, the professional with the aforesaid combination of talents will ultimately prevail, and are bound to become the most sought-after people on the job market. As a person who has achieved moderate successes in market competitions, I have made a seemingly abrupt and incomprehensive decision—to suspend my booming career in favor of an application for admission into the Management Science and Engineering program at your prestigious university. However, the motivation behind this present application is sufficiently simple—to develop myself through your program into a well-trained professional with that special combination of talents, with a strong academic background, who can stand up to the challenges of tomorrow.
My confidence in my potential is derived from the outstanding performance that I have produced over the past few years in my business activities. Upon graduation from The _ Institute of Light Industry in 1996, I, despite my undergraduate specialization in leather engineering, chose the employment with the _ International Trade Company in an effort to satisfy my interest in business and management. From working as sales representative to sales manager of the Company, I carried out important responsibilities and made important achievements. I was responsible for marketing computer accessories and network equipment in the three provinces which constitute the entire Northeastern part of China. I was also in charge of selling _ automobiles and my annual sales volume reached an average of 50 million RMB. Then in 20_, I switched to work at China _ Information Technology Corporation, one of the top 100 electronic enterprises in China, where I participated in the implementation of more than a dozen projects, including several major projects such as the project of renovating the large screens in the _ at the worth of 10 million RMB. My equally outstanding performance in those projects won high evaluations from my immediate superior.
My ability to carry out effective study and research as demonstrated in my past academic career is sufficient to convince me of my adaptability to a new academic environment and to a rigorous curriculum. As a child from a once impoverished farm family, it is all too natural for me to have experienced an academic pursuit replete with hardships and challenges. It is exactly this direct experience and deep insight into the difficult conditions of human existence that resulted in my sustained diligent efforts at my coursework, hence my consistently distinguished academic performance. In the local best middle and high school, I was ranked first, participating in national physics and mathematics competitions and city-level English contests and winning good results. I self-studied the college courses of mathematic analysis and advanced mathematics, and took up English and Japanese as my first and second foreign languages. The _ Institute of Light Industry which I subsequently entered is one of the key colleges of China and I handled all my coursework with much facility. Among a wide variety of specialized courses, I liked Advanced Mathematics, Physical Chemistry and Principles of Chemical Engineering most, and my self-education focused on Linear Algebra, Probability Theory, and C Program Design. The study of those abstruse courses was a kind of enjoyment for me, not only training my ability of logical thinking but also providing me with a sound mathematics foundation. When a sophomore, I was the first in my class to pass the National English Proficiency Test (Band VI). Although I had to work hard part-time in order to cover my younger brother’s and my own tuition, I did not allow my part-time jobs to interfere with my proper academic work, achieving very satisfactory results in almost all the courses. My score for mathematics was the highest in the class and I was awarded third-class scholarship.

Dear _,
Born in _ to parents who valued education above everything else, I consistently excelled my classmates in primary and high school. My father, a senior engineer of a huge manufacturing company, would not accept any second best performance in my studies, and I never disappointed him. One way for me to stay the top student was to pursue a wide variety of interests that helped to keep me physically strong and intellectually sharp. An acclaimed football player, I led my high school’s football team as its captain into winning the city’s football championship. I also enjoyed literature, music and traveling.
As the best student of my high school, I was well prepared in 1991 when I took the National University Entrance Examinations, held nationwide once every year to screen high school graduates for higher education. Of the 100,000 high school graduates who took the exams that year in my province, I ranked the fourth in overall scores. On the strength of these scores, I gained acceptance into the Finance & Accounting Department of the Beijing University, which President Clinton described as the Harvard of China on his recent trip to this country.
At the Beijing University, the country’s best institution of higher learning, I continued to be the best student of the class. The university’s business school, to which the Finance & Accounting Department belongs, emphasizes, English and computers. I did well in all of them. In the final exams, I got the full grade for calculus, and the highest grade in my class in statistics, liner algebra, microeconomics, finance, banking and econometrics. My average grade was 90 on the 1 to 100 scale, making me the undisputed academic leader among my fellow students.
I began to have significant academic publications while I was still an undergraduate student, something highly unusual in China. Taking advantage of the university’s well cultivated atmosphere of academic freedom, I undertook extensive research on top of my regular course load, which culminated in the publication of a book, titled “Out of Dilemma”. As the principal author of the book, I made sure that the book presented an insightful study of the Western business management methods, especially those proven effective in the experience of the Fortune 500 corporations. The book was unique at the time in that detailed case studies were presented on a number of well-known Chinese companies against the Western business management approaches introduced in the book.
I was also the only undergraduate in my department who published a research paper in an academic journal. In the “The investment risk and its measurement”, published in the January 1996issue of Chinese Technology and Economy Science, I presented a mathematical model I myself have developed on the measurement of market risks. Although the model has yet to be proven in empirical research, it has received positive review among Chinese economists. It should serve as an advanced starting point for me to conduct further studies and research.
With an impeccable academic record and virtually unprecedented publications, I received many awards and honors, including the Outstanding Student Honor in October 1992, the Guanghua Scholarship in 1994, and the Outstanding Student Honor in 1996. In recognition of my achievements, the Business School of the Beijing University offered in 1996 to accept me for graduate studies without the normally mandatory examinations, a privilege that is granted to only what the university considers the exceptionally gifted.
I, however, declined the offer by my alma mater. Instead, I joined the Chinese Da Chuan (Group) Company, one of the world’s biggest shipping companies, to work with its Planning & Financial Division at its headquarters in Beijing. I wanted to apply what I had learned both in class and outside of it to analysis of real business operations before I commenced my graduate studies.
That has since proved to be the right decision. Working with the Chinese Da Chuan Company, with its 117 branches around the world, gave me a vantage point from which I easily and regularly observe all sorts of financial activities, such as the capital flow, the investment, the making of accounting statements, the cost control, and the innovation in accounting computer systems. This has not only enriched my knowledge of finance and given me clear perception into the company itself but also provided me with the necessary empirical data for more advanced studies in general.
While with the Chinese Da Chuan Company, I saw first hand just how big the differences are between the accounting practices in China and those in the developed world. To summarize my observations, I published a paper titled “The Comparison between Foreign Accounting Information System and Domestic Accounting Information System” in the respected journal of Finance and Accounting for Communications. On the basis of these observations, I began to appreciate China’s critical need to learn the more sophisticated accounting practices from the West. In accounting as in so many other areas, China must bridge the gap with the West if it is to survive and develop in the develop in the ever shrinking global village.
Two years has passed since I first started at the Chinese Da Chuan Company, and I now feel that it is essential that I receive further and more advanced training in a quality Western university. Hence my application for acceptance into your university.
Yours sincerely,
xuexila

Dear _,
Finance is the lifeline of modern economy and if there is no finance globalization, there is no economy globalization. Finance globalization promoted to enlarge international finance market; multinational trade species and the scale, to make finance innovative appeared, strengthen international capital function and to play an important role on the resource distribution in the world. With the communication among nations increase and the technology information development, the development of finance tends to globalization. Finance globalization is the motor of economy globalization, finance and economy was one of the important factors for holding for the whole world, information, technology and other industry were developed on the base of finance and economy.
The economy strength of a nation decided its place in the world. In the future, the world finance market would present themselves with different styles; non-essential economy began to play an important role in the world, the development of information industry made finance market develop more quickly. Moreover, finance influenced largely on the daily life of common people and made common people more concern the development tendency of finance then before and made out the relevant reaction according to getting information from all aspects, for example, the change of inflation, stock and exchange rate etc. All that influenced common peoples (people’s) lives and economical programs.
I began to realize that finance in fact was the different (difference) between microcosmic and microeconomic and macroeconomic knowledge through my learning in the university, and it owned strong practice and was not abstract knowledge. For instance, currency banking, investment and international finance etc. all offered many cases and made me realize the meaning of finance. Then I knew that finance covered a wider scope and researcher needed strong academic background and ability on macro-control by practices and analysis of cases. For example, I acted as a leader of group, each group represents an enterprise and discussed whether open new produces instead of old produces, I told every member to answer for a part and consult materials, then we talked about them together and found some materials had superposition and didn’t have close logic, even each member had different emphasis and expressions which made me know cooperation was very important in a enterprise. So I held the second meeting to talk about these questions. I asked all members to look for materials relevant to this case respectively and then analyzed them together. During the process, we thought about them deeply and fully, finally we got a best scheme.
Through this experiment, I became lover finance major than before, because it not only brought me model and data but also interest on (in) connecting knowledge with practices to make data and model vivid. Even each new idea produced different result. Finance is not a material concept but is social science, which contains a wider scope. I am very glad to involving discovering unknown things in this field. Just like discussion, many members’ thoughts inspired me and we got satisfied results. Finance is a social science which embodied human being is the essential. We could cultivate our academic taste during the learning symposia and academic discussion process. In the practices we could cultivate intuition added combination with academic background and mathematic theory; we could understand finance better.
So I pay attention to connect theory and practices more than before, in my spare time I took part in social practices, for example I visited “international finance” of newspaper office and “Shanghai stock exchange”, besides I took part in planning for the “second finance year meeting” in Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. During the process, I met many finance people and got a chance for visiting Holland bank. Moreover I often consulted lots of finance journals and website materials etc. In order to connect theory with practices better, I carried on special researches on these problems.
For example, I began to research “RMB Globalization problem” and its aim was to review substantial economy and non-substantial economy how to influence currency international globalization from demonstration and theory angle to help us understand the experiences and lessons happened on the process of each national currency globalization and offered some feasible references for RMB international globalization. I connected the fact of our national economy development, especially, the base fact of RMB used by some nations around China, through researching the general rule of currency internationalization globalization, to discuss the problem on RMB international globalization process.
First, I reviewed the main countries’ currency globalization process in the world, and found that currency globalization must have two basic conditions. The first was rich economy strength; the second was to keep valuta long stabilization. Second, I pointed out RMB globalization was the necessity choice of our national economy persisting development and the benefit of currency globalization according to the impersonality requirement of economical globalization development, and RMB globalization would more enlarge the degree for opening to foreign.
At the same time I thought that stable, quickly developmental national economy and larger economical scope made RMB of our country globalization strengthens and higher ability against risk, the last part emphasized the process of RMB globalization and the research on keeping away from risk. The process of RMB internationalization was: first implement RMB regional strategy on the basis of East Asia currency cooperation and East Asian free trade, then implement RMB globalization stratagem under many perfect factors influence.
But during this process, it was very difficult for me to research non-substantiality economy in China. At present familiar to us, it was the stock market, while in China the stock market system did not very perfect and exist some problems on efficiency, security and fair. For example, I consulted many materials and knew several stages of Chinese stock issue, international paper department how to issue stock and the relative policy and system of stock market, then I asked my advisor how to comment on it and collected some comments of experts on the website. Besides I logged in MARKET WATCH and bought several stocks to do experiment to find out the conclusion that China it was more perfect, so Chinese stock market needed to be improved.
Finance is very important in all fields and no other field can exist with breaking away from finance, so the requirements for financer should be improved in the future. Above all, in the future society, the requirement for financer was higher than before, the talent only mastered profession will unfit the future society. Because in China there are limit resources for me and I am impressed by your esteemed university, so I decided to go abroad for my future education
Yours sincerely,

Dear _,
Among the 26 English alphabets, the one I like most is the capitalized D because this alphabet, simple as it is, is the most beautiful one. The two strokes, one vertical line and one curve, adumbrate two totally divergent trajectories as if serving as constant indicator of the psyche of the professionals in the advertising industry: to travel from one point to another, there is an infinite number of routes to choose; but ultimately speaking, there are only two routes: one is along a straight line, the other along a curve. While the general public may opt for the first, advertising professionals should decide on the second. A curved trajectory may well enable one to expand his horizon, enrich his experience of life, and cultivate his capability for excellent interpersonal exchange and communication. I maintain the conviction that the longer the journey of life that one travels, the richer the experience one can derive from life and hence the greater the novelty that he can create out of the apparently commonplace.
In 1998, I entered _ University with remarkable performance at the National College Entrance Examination (among the top 10 percent of the participants majoring in Humanities Disciplines)。 During the first year of my undergraduate studies, I majored in International Law but it immediately dawned on me that I was not meant for studies in this field and my real interest lied in advertising. Therefore, with extra efforts I audited all the major courses in advertising and in the second year, with a solid command of all the theoretical knowledge of the basic courses, I transferred to Advertising Speciality. Once I embarked on studying what really interested me, I made rapid progress and my GPA reached 3.5 (among the top three for 26 students of my class)。 In addition, I achieved the highest score of the class in four most important courses in the field: History of Chinese and Foreign Advertising, Principles of Advertising, Advertisement Planning, and Mass Communication.
As I delved deeper into my subject, I came to acquire an increasingly profound understanding of the nature of advertising. As a matter of fact, advertising is an art of persuasion, concerned with how the advertiser can influence the behavior and value orientation of the general public with his individually unique mentality and perspective. It is an integral branch of mass communication, inextricably intertwined with both art and economics. At the same time, it requires a framework of scientific management. In the course of my studies, I learned to exploit another form of language, my advertising designs, to conduct dialogues with my audience and to convey through those work my ideas and perceptions in order to achieve the objective of affecting the recipients' psychology and conduct and realizing the value of communication. But I ventured beyond the mere designing of individual advertisements. I also attempted at a series of coordination work that included the planning, execution, solution and effect of advertising. This process helped me to perfect my framework of theoretical conceptions concerning such notions as personal communication, interpersonal communication and mass communication. I immersed myself in a wide variety of advertising courses. By studying advertising, I could feel the joy of thinking and the charm of knowledge.
Advertising is an art more to be practiced than theorized. For my extra-curricular practice, I worked part-time for the WuHan Silver-Horse Advertising Corporation, an advertising agency which enjoys very prestigious reputation in and around WuHan. After being subjected to the most rigorous screening test, I was recruited as one of the five undergraduate students from my university and worked on several projects under the direct leadership of the chief supervisor of the Planning Department. On account of my distinctive notion and original creativity, my design for an advertisement for an automobile maintenance center was adopted, a fact which adequately evinces my professional qualities and tremendous potential. Later, with strong recommendations from my teacher, I worked at a medium-size advertising company in Beijing, responsible for the advertising agent business in the magazine Global Weekly. With the company's support, I participated in a number of designing contests ranging from the 10th Golden Calf Advertising Contest sponsored by the Taiwan's China Times, the 2nd Academy Advertising Competition sponsored by China Advertising Association to the Annual CAC Public Welfare Advertising Competition sponsored by the publishing house of International Advertising Magazine. My participation in those events not only brought me important awards but also enabled me to derive much professional knowledge from the exchange and cooperation with other staff, apart from enhancing my hands-on ability and practical problem-solving skills.
I took part consecutively in two authoritative Competitions for Young Advertisers, which aroused my attention to the discrepancies in the advertising level and the advertising consciousness between Taiwan and mainland China as well as the disparity in the advertising management. In order to call the serious attention of China's advertising industry to those problems, I published a full-length academic paper entitled On the Eve of WTO Accession: A Perspective on the Present Conditions of Advertising Management on Mainland China on the website of China Advertising Communication and Research (this website is launched by XiaMen University, the first university in China to have established an Advertising Department and which enjoys a very high academic prestige)。
Historically speaking, China's advertising industry can only be described as underdeveloped compared with that of the advanced Western countries. Although China's advertising industry is achieving remarkable development around the turn of the century, challenges and obstacles are equally serious. For instance, the relationship between the client, the media and the advertising company has not been properly established. The advertising agent system and the relevant legal regulations of advertising are not fully developed. The awareness of self-discipline is weak within this profession and a sound system of social supervision over unlawful advertising practices is lacking.
With China's immediate accession into WTO, China's overall advertising industry will face severe challenges presented by major international advertising agencies. On the other hand, China promises a bright and alluring prospect in advertising industry as China has the largest advertising market among the developing countries. The profit of the advertising industry maintains an annual growth rate of 39.73. Such a growth momentum is sufficient to indicate the tremendous dimension and the exciting prospect of China's future advertising industry. This situation necessarily calls for the emergence of a large number of highly qualified advertising professionals, especially those who can incorporate both their intimate knowledge of China's domestic advertising market and international advertising background.
It is precisely against this backdrop that I, equipped with a solid groundwork (at once theoretical and empirical) in the field of advertising acquired from my undergraduate education, wish to apply for a graduate program. My motivation is fairly simple: only the United States, a country with the most unparalleled development in advertising industry and the most prestigious institutions of higher learning in mass communication of which advertising is a part, can offer the necessary environment in which I can mature toward my professional goals.
Now that I have charted my course of action, I am on the verge of proceeding from one point of my life to another point. To return to my metaphor of the alphabet D, I have decided to relinquish the effortless straight line in favor of the beautiful curve, for I believe that whatever the turns and twists alongside it, it will ultimately lead to my prescribed ideal. The profound truth inherent in it has already been given the most poetical pronunciation by the poet Robert Frost at the conclusion of his The Road Not Taken: Two roads diverged in the wood, and I - / I took the one less traveled by / And that has made all the difference.
Yours sincerely,

Dear _,
Think about the decisions you have made that led to your current position. Past: What choices have you made that led to your current position present: why is astern mba necessary at this point in your life? future: what is your desired position upon graduation from the Stern school I have always desired a career that requires innovation, educated risk, and foresight. I learned to respect these qualities from my father, a Lebanese immigrant who worked for years to create his own business. Through his example, I have seen firsthand the advantages and challenges of self-employment--the rewards to be gained and the total commitment required. My goal is to create a business based on my own ideas and efforts, and have made decisions aimed at bringing this dream into fruition .After graduating from college, I accepted a position as the manager of an established German restaurant in San Francisco. I had been the evening manager there for nearly two years while attending college, and knew that the restaurant was struggling. For several years, high overhead costs and poor marketing had brought revenue to a minimum. I saw the position as an intriguing challenge; I knew I could dramatically increase the restaurant’ s profitability. Immediately after accepting the position in July of 1995,I addressed the most significant problem: high overhead from over staffing, food waste, and unnecessary purchases of supplies. I lowered each of these expenses while maintaining the restaurant’ s quality and efficiency. My next target was marketing. Inexpensive advertisement in local newspapers, attractive signage, and Internet postings brought in many new customers. In the meantime, I took control of the accounting, eliminating the need for independent help. The increased revenue and decreased spending had an immediate effect. At the end of 1996, the restaurant reported a profit for the first time in six years. I remained with the business until it was sold in 1997, monitoring these changes in order to provide lasting improvement. Although the position made me realize that the restaurant business did not appeal to me, those two years reaffirmed my desire to operate my own business. I had not abandoned my education during that time; while working at the restaurant, I had taken real estate courses in the evening and passed the California State Broker exam in 1996. My brother and I launched our own property management company in April of 1996,and it quickly grew. We currently have seven commercial properties under management. Our responsibilities include leasing, accounting, and property maintenance. In 1997, I began working as a broker with a commercial real estate company, largely to gain the knowledge of retail to improve the leasing and sales division of my company. I am currently employed in a sales position with a private business bank in San Francisco.
I was hired to bring business into the bank, which rarely advertises, prefer ring to attract business primarily from referrals. My responsibilities include interacting with potential clients, selling loans and deposits, and account maintenance. This job has given me better understanding of sales and finance, which is crucial to the success of any business. Although my ultimate goal is to grow our property management company into a full time business, these positions in other industries have been invaluable learning aids. Property management requires an extensive knowledge of real estate, banking, accounting and sales. I now feel confident that I have gained valuable experience with my work.
However, I know that earning a graduate degree will further enhance the skills I need to develop a viable company. The Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University will allow me to learn from the finest teachers, interact with the brightest students, and experience one of the top graduate programs in the United States. I can only anticipate the invaluable knowledge and training I will gain from being a part of this program.
Although my work experience has been extremely important, the NYU Stern School of Business will be equally as educational. It will allow me to incorporate my experiences with other equally ambitious students, and to broaden my goals, ideas and perspectives. A graduate degree in Management and Organizational Behavior is a significant asset to any business owner. The first year curriculum of accounting, management, finance, marketing, and economics will enhance my knowledge of the basic foundations of business and management. During my second semester, I will enroll in the track courses of Entrepreneurial Studies. These classes will teach me advanced business techniques and their successful implementation. In addition, Stern-sponsored, non-academic entrepreneurial organizations will be both educational and enjoyable. I view these as an opportunity to meet students who share similar goals. They will expand my awareness of new business concepts within our quickly evolving economy--which I hope to incorporate into my own company. The experiences available at NYU are myriad, and a degree from the Stern School will propel me toward the realization of my professional goals.
Yours sincerely,
xuexila
