此种写作方式是目前媒体常用的写作方式，亦即将新闻中最重要的消息写在第一段，或是以「新闻提要」的方式呈现在新闻的最前端，此种方式有助于媒体编辑下标题，亦有助于阅听人快速清楚新闻重点。
基本格式(除了标题)是：先在导语中写一个新闻事件中最有新闻价值的部分(新闻价值通俗来讲就是新闻中那些最突出，最新奇，最能吸引受众的部分)，比如一场球赛刚刚结束，观众/读者/听众们最想知道的是结果，或者是某个球员的'发挥情况，就先从这里写起。
其次，在报道主体中按照事件各个要素的重要程度，依次递减写下来，最后面的是最不重要的。
同时注意，一个段落只写一个事件要素，不能一段到底。
因为这种格式不是符合事件发展的基本时间顺序，所以在写作时要尽量从受众的角度出发来构思，按受众对事件重要程度的认识来安排事件要素。
把最重要的写在前面，然后将各个事实按其重要性程度依次写下去。
正金字塔式此种写作方式刚好与「倒金字塔式」相反，是以时间发生顺序作为行文结构的写作方式，依序分别是引言、过程、结果，采渐入高潮的方式，将新闻重点摆在文末，一般多用于特写。
折衷式又叫新华体。
此种写作方式为「倒金字塔式」、「正金字塔式」的折衷，亦即，新闻中最重要的讯息仍然在导言中呈现，接著，则依新闻的时间性或逻辑性叙述。
我们国家的新闻报道一般是遵循时间顺序，但是这种“讲故事”的写法已经不适合受众的阅读习惯(一般人没有时间听你讲长篇大论)，所以“新华体”在吸收中外新闻报道之长的情况下诞生了。
基本格式(除了标题)是：先把事件中最重要的部分在导语中简明地体现出来。
其次，在第二段进一步具体阐述导语中的这个重要部分，形成支持，不至于使受众在接受时形成心理落差。
