本课的话题围绕谈论生日及礼物展开对话,主要学习When’s your birthday? What would you like as a birthday present? 及其应答来说生日的用语,这与学生的生活息息相关。在本课中,我努力联系学生生活,唤起学生已有的生活经验,巧用文中Aladdin这一词汇创设相关情境,采用任务型教学途径,使学生对教学内容产生好奇心及亲切感,从而乐于学习,乐于实践。
一、联系生活,巩固旧知
本课是本单元的第二课时,在此之前学生已经学习了日期的表达,但还不能够熟练掌握。因此,在本课上课伊始,我安排了月份,序数词和日期的练习,采用了不同形式调动学生的学习兴趣,在复习日期表达时,我采用了Read and guess的'游戏,结合节日表达开展,让学生了解节日的表达,并通过有关生日的物品及“你想知道老师的生日吗”导入生日话题的交谈,学习本单元询问生日及其礼物的用语,并展开操练,帮助学生表达运用。
二、关注学生,培养能力
新课程强调学生是学习的主体。在教学中,教师要关学生的生活经验及学生的需求,创设各种情境,使学生在充分参与教学活动的过程中融入教学,在多样化的语境中感知语言,发展语言能力。在本课语篇解读中,我巧用了文中Aladdin一词,通过Aladdin的任务区实现自己的生日愿望,这一形式大大激发了学生的学习热情。在本课教学中,我充分发挥学生的主体性,引导学生自主学习,在任务中了解背景,感知文本,在朗读、听说练习、表演交际中培养学生的学习能力和表达能力,让学生在活动中体验、参与、实践以及主动尝试与创造,从而获得认识能力和语言能力的发展。
三、关注生活,学会运用
英语教学的最终目标就是让学生具有综合语言的运用能力,能够与人交际。本节课中看视频回答问题培养学生文本整体理解能力;带着问题听录音选择锻炼学生的听力;表表复述文本培养学生的语言归纳能力和表达能力;Read and complete练习培养学生书写表达能力。学生能力的培养贯穿在教学过程的各个环节,教师在教学中要关注学生,联系生活,让学生做到学有所用,学以致用。
总之,五彩缤纷的生活是丰富的教学资源,只要我们英语老师不断探索课堂教学,乐于并善于从生活入手,找准教材与生活的契合点,采用符合学生实际的教学方法,就能设计出更多生动活泼的、高质量的英语课。

本节课的教学设计比较新颖,流畅。由欣赏 “ Old Macdonad had a farm”这首歌到上周末参观农场,接着在农场里挤牛奶,摘橘子,吃橘子真实自然。同时为学生创设了一个较好的英语情境,学生易于接受。穿插其中的chant , 能够调动学生的积极性,而且还及时巩固了所学知识,营造了亲切、热闹的课堂氛围。
本节课我营造了民主和谐的氛围,教学上体现了“巧妙激趣,主动参与,自主探究”的观念,突出“以学生为主的,自主学习”的思路,通过营造愉悦学习环境,激发学生大胆参与,课堂教学达到最优化。教学新单词时,结合句型进行教学,体现了“字不离词,词不离句”的思想,使学生的理解能力有了提高。句型的练习也是先让学生模仿,等学生能正确运用时,引导学生进行扩展,这样学得既扎实又轻松。“见好就收”让学生学习英语的热情延续到课后,是多好的学习效果啊!本课没有教学对话,我通过Do a survey的活动让学生通过小组合作进行调查,在调查的过程中,学生很自然运用的所学的句型,并且编出了较好的对话。既能巩固新知,也是培养学生创新意识,合作精神和运用语言能力的一个办法。本堂课迎合了学生的兴趣和需要,充分调动学生的积极性创力。
不足之处,课上对学生的观察不够仔细,有少部分学生并没有真正融入到学习情境中,不能及 时回答老师所提出的问题。在同桌练习的时候,没能注意到及时指导差生。使得热闹的氛围中,仍然存在“冷、静地死角”。
今后应注意及时抓住补差的机会,即使是在课堂教学过程中,及时补比课后补的效果要好得多,教者也轻松地多。

1 Introduce/review the vocabulary using the wallpicture. Point to the places on the wallpicture and read the words aloud. Which floor do you live on? Is there a supermarket/school/post office/garden/kindergarten in your estate?
2 Play the recording: Look and read. Students listen and follow in their books.
3 Play the recording again. Students listen and repeat.
4 Give the students some time to read the passage silently. Then ask questions about it, e.g. Where do Ben and Kitty live? How many floors does their block have? Which floor do they live on? etc. Ask the more able students to close their books and tell the class anything they can remember.
5 Students read the sentences in Answer true/false and fill in the boxes on their own. Remind them to refer to the picture and the passage to find the answers. Read each sentence aloud and ask: True or false? to elicit answers from the students. Invite some students to rewrite the false sentences into true statements.
While-task procedure
Divide the students into groups of four. Distribute a copy of Photocopiable pages 34-36 to each group. Students are required to make a brochure to introduce Rose Garden Estate. The completed brochures can be mounted on the display board. Put a little comment sheet/card below each brochure for students to write down any comments they have.

Pre-task preparation
1 Collect some business cards (with English addresses) before class. Circulate the cards in class and tell the students to look at the telephone number and English address on each card. Show them the school's letterhead or envelope. Write the school's English address and telephone number on the board. Read them aloud. Then ask: What's our school's address/telephone number? Ask students to bring a gas bill/electricity bill/telephone bill to class next time.
2 Play the recording: Look and learn. Students listen and follow in their books.
3 Ask one or two students to read the address on the envelope aloud. Then ask: What's Jenny’s telephone number? to elicit: 6526 3156.
4 Write a few 8-digit telephone numbers on the board. Ask the students to read them aloud. Let them know the different ways of reading the number ‘0’ and the double numbers, e.g. zero, O, double one, one one, etc.
5 Give the students five minutes to read the information in Look and read. Then ask questions about it, e.g. What’s Mr and Mrs Chen/Mr and Mrs Wang/Mr and Mrs Li’s address/telephone number?
6 Students work in pairs to complete Ask and answer. Student 1 asks whereas Student 2 answers. Remind them to refer to the three cards in Look and read to find the answers. Invite 2-3 groups to act the dialogues in front of the class.
While-task procedure
1 Students complete Part A of Write, ask and answer individually. They need to write down their names, addresses and telephone numbers on the cards. Remind them to refer to their gas/electricity/telephone bills if they cannot write their addresses in English. Then they work in pairs to read the dialogue in Part B.
2 Distribute a copy of Photocopiable page 40 to each group. Students work in groups of five. Ask them to use the modelled dialogues in Ask and answer to find out their classmates' addresses and telephone numbers. Then they need to design a cover. Finally, the group leaders collect the cards, make them into a class phone book and pass it to their teacher.
