Five years‘ academic study in the School of Architecture and Arts of University of _ transformed my instinctive excitement and imagination about architecture into systematic knowledge and comprehensive understanding. This transformation, first of all, lies in my skills in the fine arts. Differing from my previous mere interest in fine arts, the study of architecture makes me begin to ponder on how to draw using aesthetic elements from fine arts such as color, lighting and composition to apply to architecture. I was so dedicated to such brainstorming and imagination that I would always work around the clock in the studio for days on end. Secondly, the study of basic architectural courses, such as architectural structure, mechanics and materials science, makes me realize that architecture not only gives importance on aesthetics, but also on the more essential functionality and practicality. In that process, I realized that architecture is not only an art, but also more importantly a sort of technology. Five years of college study gives me a deeper comprehension of architecture, that is, architecture is also part of other cultures - it is subject to other cultures‘ influence, and at the same time it influences other cultures.
Because of my childhood architectural background, coupled with my lasting keen interest in architecture, I gained excellent achievements in the major courses of my college study, ranked top three in the class, and also received first prize scholarships and many other scholarships for five consecutive years. Besides, owing to my understanding of architecture, I am not satisfied with mere textbook knowledge. I believe architecture is not only a skill but also, more importantly, a combination of creativity and imagination. An excellent architecture designer needs not only solid architectural skills and knowledge, but also needs nourishment from fine arts, materials science, engineering and culture. For that purpose, I read quite extensively, understood the architectural history of different countries - especially European architectural history, learnt from works of modern and contemporary architectural masterpieces, and gained insights on their design conceptions that are full of creativity and connotation. The knowledge I have gained from these efforts heightens my interests and my desire for creation.
I had the opportunity to put to practice this desire for creation during the last stage of my college study. During the second semester of my fourth year, I interned with _ for half a year where I participated in the environmental design of the _ astronomical station and the conceptual design of the Phoenix Residential Complex in _. These experiences gave me insights into the relationship between a building‘s space and its functionality, as well as architectural design‘s feasibility, which is an important factor to consider when designing.
After graduating in 2002, I worked with an excellent architectural design institute, engaging in architectural design. In the meantime, I participated in the conceptual design and design drafts of the janitor’s room, the main machine hall of _ Company Ltd. I was also responsible for the design of the drafts of the multi-purpose hall in _ , _ and the renovation design of the _ Archives of the _. Because of my prominent achievements, I was quickly promoted as an exception from draftsmen to designer, and I later got the assistant engineer certificate in a short period of time.
The design experiences from these projects made me very interested in creatively applying materials in projects. Meanwhile, I also continuously learned new ideas in architecture from different countries, and especially saw a lot of design drawings of overseas architectural masters. All these experiences have a great impact on me, sparking my intention of studying abroad to learn more in-depth contemporary international architectural conceptions. I especially aspire to get to know in more detail modern western architectural history in the hopes of forming my own architectural conceptions.
Besides this, another intense desire of mine is to comprehensively learn the relationship between architecture and culture, and through the study of western architecture, to determine China‘s own architectural style. China once boasted of a developed ancient architecture, while its modern architecture loses the characteristics of its indigenous culture, a great deal of architecture lingers merely on the stage of rough and superficial imitation of western architecture. I hope to form a sort of architectural design conception with characteristics of China‘s traditional culture after extensively absorbing modern architectural theories and technologies. While most students found preparing for just one set of these exams difficult Wang was overwhelmed by four of them. But in the end he achieved an impressive score on the final exam which made me conscious of his unusual determination he demonstrates when confronting difficult challenges.
Mr. Wang and I have often talked about a variety of mathematics and computer science concepts and problems. During these discussions I always found him to be delightfully intelligent. Not only does he quickly understand the concepts and problems presented to him he is able to analyze these problems and present solutions. But perhaps most important is that Wang's thinking is intensely rigorous. When looking at any question he carefully scrutinizes it and if he finds any uncertain issues he clears them up immediately. I believe this kind of thought is essential to become an excellent computer programmer.
Serving as his thesis advisor I had a first-hand opportunity to observe the way in which Wang's mind works. In his senor thesis Mr. Wang mainly discussed two challenging questions in regards to″ANN″. In our books in China knowledge of ANN and its uses are very rare. Few people in China have studied this topic and consequently the materials that are available on ANN are limited. Working on this difficult project not only did Mr. Wang rise to the challenge but he went above and beyond the call of duty to analyze his secondary sources and test them for accuracy in practice. In this way he found mistakes in the book that we use. His diligence and hard work made me extremely proud of him.

西班牙留学申请材料清单
西班牙留学材料大致包括：留学签证、担保金及流水账证明、西班牙大学录取通知书、西班牙语言学院录取通知等。这些准备是个重要的环境，这其中每一步都要严格去做，而且会被逐一审核。有的学生因为其中某个步骤出现问题耽搁了，就很容易造成所申请的大学已经开学而要多等半年甚至一年时间。下面就简单介绍一些最基本的材料内容以及它们的准备说明。
(1)填好签证申请表并将4张近期照片贴在上面;
这个目前北京使馆不是非常在意，就是一个申请人信息汇总而已。不过建议大家规范书写表格，以便省去签证官输机时间。
(2)护照;
记得复印所有页(包括空白页)，并在最后一页签字即可。
(3)翻译并认证过的无犯罪公正书的原件及复印件;
无犯罪公证书去户口处(有的是要求去街道/学校保卫科)让他们开了证明，然后拿到户口所在的派出所盖章就好了(派出所盖章就比较麻烦因人而议，建议申请人早去以免耽误时间，毕竟双认证的时间很久)。带着这些去公证处即可。关于翻译，请不要自行翻译，公证处是不承认私人翻译的。最后都是由公证处翻译并盖章。
关于双认证，这个就较麻烦，申请人在哪里办理都一样(长虹桥认证处、泛利大厦、国旅等等)，他们是没权干涉使馆认证的，最多就是催催教育部，其中长虹桥认证处相对便宜还快些，主要是人家都是教育部退下来的一些老同志，单从个人素质上将就比其他纯商业性质的公司员工好，服务态度就是一个“和善”。
(4)体检证明
使馆领事处指定医疗机构所开的健康证明原件，申请人不得患有对社会秩序造成危害的传染病、精神病，且无毒瘾(原件);这个体检建议大家去使馆附近的国际SOS移民、留学服务体检服务中心(沃尔沃公司大厦后边)或者和睦家(建国门地铁站出口附近)，两家各有所长都不需要公证，第一家提供食物、人相对少;第二家报销20元以内的打车费，人相对多些并且在地下室卫生条件一般。
(5)由申请人已被录取的私立或公立学校负责人签发的录取通知;
尽量选择正规大学，使馆不在意是否是公立大学，但是比较留意一般性质的语言中心，即不提供后继学术研究的培训中心。这里涉及到语言培训结束后的录取通知书申请、签证的转换等等琐碎小问题，签证处比较在意这些可能产生遗留问题的签证申请，除非你有强有力原因解释给他听(前提是签证官面签时给你机会说并愿意听你说)。相对一般大学下设的语言中心申请入境许可要审核严些并且遭到二次面试的通知要大些。
(6)申请人学位证书翻译件的公证证书;
不要轻信网络上流传的“自我翻译说”，公证处是不认可一般翻译公司的翻译件的(即使公证处也翻译不了)。而且在翻译时，针对本科以下毕业证书翻译尤为重要，一旦用词不准。很有可能成为拒签的主要原因之一。我中心在长期受理北京领。
(7)资金担保及流水账
申请人需证明自己拥有充足的生活来源(包括食宿及日用开销)的证明。通常为定期存款15至20万元，建议最低不要低于15万元，存期为6个月或以上，同时开据父母收入证明，让父母的单位开张证明，然后盖章就可以了，不需要公证，但是要找正规翻译公司翻译，千万不要自己翻译或者找资质不好的翻译中心。
最麻烦的就是流水账了，北京领区是6个月，上海领区是12个月较累人，就是多存点，然后再取，如此循环，但是别太有规律了就好了。当然还要配合个人情况，不是简单的按照每个月存一万即可。
(8)500课时西班牙语水平;
500课时西班牙语水平，对于西班牙留学签证来说，算的上是重中之重的环节了，因为语言水平将直接影响到你的签证结果(建议参加真对性课程：千奕500课时精品出国班)，所以选择一家专业的西班牙语学校是非常必要的，特别是一些高中毕业生本来英语就不好的同学，在国内西语基础一旦打的不好，就算过了签证这关，到西班牙参加语言课程时同样也会感到吃力，倒不如在国内尽量多学一些，事半功倍。
(9)西班牙住宿证明;
如果在学校里住，建议给校方联系人写信说明，请对方在给你发放录取通知书时，说明你会住在学校公寓里并大概说明地址。西班牙留学市场刚刚起步，很多大学对这个政策不是很了解，一般都没有特殊说明。前一阵有很多自己申请学校的申请人都因这个原因被要求补充说明材料。
如果不是在学校的，需要出示户主证明及你们签订的合同。
(10)境外医疗保险;
这个没什么说的，泰康2100RMB/年。就是不要轻信路边小贩，一旦他们耽误交单或者遗失保单给你带来的直接结果就是--“拒签”。使馆在这点上态度很明确，他们是肯定上_网上系统落实你的保险明细(目前泰康险种比较完善，是德国、比利时、西班牙等多个国家签证处首选)，所以不要心存侥幸购买假保险或者到小贩处购买，小贩的一般伎俩是介绍其他小公司的便宜险种，这些险种价钱便宜，但是在签证处审核及将来出险理赔时，风险大。
(13)户口本原件及复印件;
本着给他人便利就是给自己便利的原则，建议学生要求所委托的中介或者自己找翻译中心翻译并复印，不用公证翻译件，正规翻译中心盖翻译专用章即可(拥有特批备案号翻译章的中心翻译较好)。

The decision to study A levels in both Maths and Physics stemmed from a high interest level and strong aptitude in both subject areas. The more extensively one studies any subject, the more common ground one will find it shares with all the others. This can be taken to its furthest extent when applied to literature - because there is nothing that is not, or cannot be, explored in literature. Of course, this is only half of the appeal of reading and writing. For an example of the second, look to Nabokov - what does, for instance, Lolita, teach us? Only how the English language can be manipulated into something new and exhilarating, wonderfully poetic, wickedly ironic. I have a bad reading habit: I am too easily seduced by a fancy prose style.
There is nothing a true bookworm loves more than rifling through a bookshop, be it the charmingly musty atmosphere of a second-hand store, or the print-fresh fragrance of Waterstones. American literature is my current infatuation: My favourite book right now is Catch-22, an insanely hilarious (yet often extremely thought-provoking) satire set in the Second World War. I have also recently discovered that contemporary of Joseph Heller, Kurt Vonnegut, and am absolutely taken with his novels. They are all strikingly original, all of them terribly sad and terribly funny. A-Level English Literature has helped me to become a better reader; I am able to dissect texts and see the underlying meanings that may be present, and analyse the choices the author has made in language, form and structure. It has also taught me to improve my writing: it is more flowing, my expression is clearer, I have been able to curb my tendency to digress (just a little). I love exploring the possibilities of language and discovering new writers and books to feed an old obsession. Last year, a friend and I set up and now run a small book club; we have recently found ourselves (to no complaint!) in an accidentally Russian rut. We have read Dostoevsky, we have read Pasternak, we have read Turgenev, we have (appropriately, given how Nabokovian this repetition sounds) read Nabokov. Last summer, I organised for the book group to attend a reading of Chuck Palahniuk's - an author of whom I am a huge fan, perhaps best known for his novel Fight Club (later somewhat mutated into the cult film) whose excessively quotable, delightfully cynical social commentary is characterised by its repetetive patterns, unexpected metaphors, and sometimes disturbing themes. The reading was an incredible experience! I love concerts and have been attending the theatre since I was a child, but there is still something about live performances that will always remain a wonderful surprise to me. That folkish storytelling tradition is such a necessary part of literature.
Either symbiotic or parasitic is the relationship between this love and the other one; philosophy. Anyone who has devoted their time to thinking about what we could perhaps call the fundamental questions of philosophy - those concerning God, and death, and that word so often thrown around (it sounds a little common now) 'purpose', good and evil, right and wrong - will agree it is a rather consuming preoccupation. When this is the case, us readers can always return to that old escapists retreat of literature - but then, can it not be said that some of the best books ask more questions than they answer? Books are in fact to blame for my interest in philosophy, as they are for many other things: in this instance, it was a combination of a love of the Greek Classics and Jostein Gaarder's Sophie's World, a summary of a good two thousand-odd years of philosophers and philosophies. In the years since, I have read a number of other books on philosophy, most recently returning to my fascination with the ancient Greeks to read Plato's Republic; a mind-blowing excersise in the early days of Greek philosophy. The techniques used and the questions asked are certainly still very applicable today. My father is also something of a philosopher, and he has developed my interest, teaching me about and debating with me on various complex philosophical issues. In spite of, or more correctly because of my constant (allow me a colloquialism) philosophizing, I have become a christian - if a bit of an unorthodox one. I regularly attend church, and for me the main value of this is the educational one. Religion has also probably been the spur to the eleven hours of voluntary work I do at the British Red Cross bookshop (which has unexpectedly and brilliantly paid off since the manager asked me to take home any books i'd like!). This year my sixth form started a twilight A2 in Religious Education: Philosophy and Ethics, and a month into the course, I absolutely love it. It has given me the opportunity to broaden my knowledge in the subject, suggested to me new reading material, and provided an arena for philosophical debate.
An element of philosophy that seems to have gone out of fashion is that of political and economic philosophy. Stubborn and questioning from the first, I took my earliest political stance at three when I became aware of animal cruelty; although this is still an important issue for me, at the moment I excersize more concern over the state of our democracy. I am a member of a party and various pressure groups - and we are advised, when writing the personal statement, to avoid expressing a political bias either way! I shall try not to, but hope that you concur when I say that I believe in democracy, equality, freedom of speech, and as little government involvement in our lives as can be possible without risking anybody's safety, freedom and prosperity. My concern over current affairs is, however, steeped in my interest in political theory. As far as that goes, my Sociology A-Level course is of great interest. Sociology covers almost every aspect of our lives, and so informs political theory and debate no end; learning about the various perspectives on how society works pushes you to further question our culture and the prevailing normals and values, and to identify not ontly the problems in society but the possible solutions.
Now, then, for the 'outside interests' - for me, this is mainly in the arts. All too often I hear art galleries described as 'boring', but London's wide variety of galleries and exhibitions are regular haunts for me. As well as being a lover of fine art, I am very into illustration, and am a big fan of the 'Graphic Novel' - or more basically, comics! My favourite art medium, either this or sculpture - there is something that is much more real and intense in sculpture than in two-dimensional art. Juan Munoz puts this across perhaps better than any other recent artist. I have been drawing and painting for a long time, guided by my artist grandfather, and am taking a Photography A-Level. I have learned how to compose a good photograph, create an absorbing film sequence, and develop my own photos - as far as I am concerned, the most exciting part. Music and drama are also loves of mine - I was raised on Bob Dylan, establishing in me particularly an appreciation of lyrics, and I suspect that I have been writing music myself practically as long as I have known how to write! I can play very simple guitar, but someday would like to develop my abilities, as well as learn other instruments. The theatre is something else I was brought up with, but only in the past year or so have discovered the possibilities of the musical - my favourite being the fairly recent Wicked.
To conclude, very simply: the word 'philosophy' is derived from the greek for 'love' and 'knowledge' - a philosopher, a lover of knowledge. This describes me perfectly. The depth of my interest is proof that I would be able to develop my own skills and contribute to the course that I choose.
