8points In our modern social life, there are many examples around us show many people are cheated.Advertisements cheat people, salesmen cheat people, even one's closest friends cheat him or her.So many heartbreaks are heard everyday that we cannot help asking:where is our honest exist?Everybody is taught honest in the primary school or even in the kindergarten.Honesty does good not only to ourseives, but to others as well.If we are honest to others,we will be happier and be in abetter mood.Otherwise,we'll feel guilt at last.To acompany and its advertisement, honesty will bring it more consumer and more profit. If we cheat others, friends will not believe you and they will leave you alone. To acompany,no consumer will buy your product again!
So,as the above is said,it pays to be honest.Let's create amorally outstanding social.
5pointsWith the development of modern economic and industry, competitive is becoming more and more obvious. At the same time, the performance of dishonest is becoming more and more clearly.
Nowadays, there are many dishonest performance in our society. For example, some people found that he saled goods had past the preservation date. Not throw them away, the revised the preservation date, and saled them again after several day.Another case in the point,a pair of shoes was made from goat. However,in order to sale at ahigh price, the salers would say they were made from cow which has good quality.
From the foregoing,we can see that dishonest does not only harm to yourselves but also harm to others. And it is no use only realize the harmness of dishonest. We should be honest from now on and be honest on our daily life.It is only that people all over the world are honest then our country will be beautiful and wealthy.
2pointsNow in our society, many people are not honest in doing soming.we often can meet with soming happened cause by people who are not honest. For example,Now we take the bus need carry cents own,and when you upstairs the bus,you should put the cent into the money box.Every people do that, but some of the people put the other things instead the cents. For another example,it is more normal that in the exams we can always find some students see others.
I consider that every people should be honest. As apeople, honest should be first, because it can make us to be increase and make our society develop. In doing everything we should be honest all, study, work, life and so on.If you re honest, every people will be friend to you,and who will regard you good people. But if you don't be honest, people must unwilling to trath with you.So if you are want to be agood people, remember honest first.
1,present state 2,reasons 3,my comments把题目的范围缩小了,但还是不能确定reason写什么。 实际上根据指示中your composition should start with the given opening sentence:“Today more and more advertisements are seen on the TV screen”,应当写广告为什么会越来越多地出现在电视上。
What Would happen if There Were No Power?
1,Ever since early this century, electricity has become an essential part of our modern life.
2,If there were no electric power.
3,Therefore,
1,I like one of my friends.
2,A.He possesses profound knowledge.
B.He likes supplying everybody.
C.He is quiet and gentle.
3,My best friend's name is“book”.
1,Teaching is my ideal job.
2,Why do Ichoose teaching as my job?
Teaching is learning.
Teaching means freedom and independence.
It offers acertain peace of mind.
3,Nothing can change my mind.
例如(e.g)
[1].When asked about.,the vast/overwhelming majority of people say that.But Ithink/view abit differently.
[2].When it comes to.,some people believe that.Others argue/claim that the opposite/reverse is true. There is probably some truth in both arguments/statements,but(I tend to the prefer/latter.)
[3].Now,it is commonly/generally/widely believed/held/acknowledged that.They claim/believe/argue that.But Iwonder/doubt whether.
e.g
[1].Recently the rise in problem of/(phenomenon of).has cause/
aroused public/popular/wide/worldwide concern.
[2].Recently the issue of the problem of/the phenomenon of.
has been brought into focus.(has been brought to public attention)
[3].Inflation/Corruption/Social inequality.is yet another of the new and bitter truth we have to learn to fa ce now/constantly.
e.g:
[1].Never history has the change of.been as evident as.
Nowhere in the world/China has the issue/idea of.been more visible/
popular than.
[2].Now people in growing/significant numbers are beginning/
coming to realize/accept/(be aware)that.
[3].Now there is agrowing awareness/recognition of the necessity to.
Now people become increasingly aware/conscious of the importance of.
[4].Perhaps it is time to have afresh look at the attitude/idea that.
e.g:
[1].“Knowledge is power.”such is the remark made by Bacon. This remark has been shared by more and more people.
“Education is not complete with graduation.”Such is the opinion of a
great American philosopher. Now more and more people share his opinion.
[2].“.”How often we hear such statements/words like theses
/this.
In our own days we are used to hearing such traditional compla

letter on the answer sheet with a single line through the center.
questions 21 to 25 are based on the following passage:
some radio singals were heard in 1967.they were coming from a point in the sky where there was unknown star.they were coming very regularly, too:about once a seco
nd,if they were controlled by clock.
the scientists who heard the signals did not tell anybody else.they were rather afraid to tell in case they frightened people.the signals were coming from a very small body—no bigger, perhaps than the earth.was that why no light could be seen from it?or were the signals coming from a planet that belonged to some other star?there was no end to the questions, but the scientists kept the news secret.“perhaps there are intelligent beings out there.”they thought,“who are trying to send messages to other planets,or to us?so the news was not given to the newspaper.instead, the scientists studied the signals and searched for others like them...well,all that happened in 1967 and 1968.since then scientists have learnt more about those strange, regular, radio signals.and they have told the story,of course.
the signals do not come from a planet;they come from a new kind of star called a “pulsar””.about a hundred other pulsars have now been found, and most of them
are very like the first one.
pulsars are strong radio stars.they are the smallest but the heaviest stars we know at present.a handful of pulsar would weigh a few thousand tons.their light—if they give much light—is too small for us to see.but we can be sure of this,no intelligent beings are living on them.
21. the radio signals discussed in this passage____.

questions 26 to 30 are based on the following passage:
over vast areas of every continent, the rainfall and vegetation necessary for life are disappearing.already more than 40 percent of the earth's land is desert or
desertlike.about 628 million people—one out of seven—live in these dry regions.in the past, they have managed to survive, but with difficulty.[zz(z]now largely through problems caused by modern life, their existence is threatened by the slow, steady spread of the earth's deserts.
scientists still do not understand all the complex problems of the desert, but there have been many ideas for saving the land.sandi arabia has planted 10 million
trees to help keep the sand from taking over fertile areas.the israelis are aga
in using some of the water collection systems left by the ancient people in the
negev desert.they plan to water their orchards with the extra water.some sahel farmers still raise cattle on their poor farm land, but before the cattle are sold,
they are taken to greener lands in the south to get fat.

d.new water wells can solve the problem in africa's desert.
questions 31 to 35 are based on the following passage:
telephone, television, radio, and telegraph all help people communicate with
each other. because of these devices, ideas and news of events spread quickly all
over the world. for example, within seconds, people can know the results of an
election in another country. an international football match comes into the homes
of everyone with a television set.news of a disaster such as an earthquake or a
flood can bring help from distant countries within hours, help is on the way. because of modern technology like the satellites that travel around the world, information travels fast.
how has this speed of communication changed the world? to many people, the world has become smaller. of course this does not mean that the world is actually physically smaller. it means that the world seems smaller. two hundred years ago, communication between the continents took a long time. all news was carried on ships that took weeks or even months to cross the ocean. in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries,it took six weeks for news from europe to reach america.this time difference influenced people's actions. for example, one battle, or fight, in the war of 1812 between england and the united states could have been avoided. a peace agreement had already been signed. peace was made in england, but the news of peace took six weeks to reach america. during these six weeks, the large and serious battle of new orleans was fought. many people lost their lives after a peace treaty had been signed.they would not have died if news had come in time.in the past, communication took much time than it does now.
there was a good reason why the world seemed so much larger than it does today.

c.by air d.by sea
35. the new orleans battle could have been avoided if the peace agreement had been signed____.

questions 36 to 40 are based on the following passage:
the concept of personal choice in relation to health behaviors is an important one.an estimated 90 percent of all illnesses may be preventable if individuals would make sound personal health choices based upon current medical knowledge.
we all enjoy our freedom of choice and do not like to see it restricted when it is within the legal and moral boundaries of society.[zz)]the structure of american society allows us to make almost all our own personal decisions that may concern our health.if we so desire,we can smoke, drink excessively, refuse to wear seat
belts, eat whatever foods we want, and live a completely sedentary life-style without any excuse.the freedom to make such personal decisions is a fundamental aspect of our society, although the wisdom of these decisions can be questioned.personal choices relative to health often cause a difficulty.as one example,a teenager may know the facts relative to smoking cigarettes and health but may be pressured by friends into believing it is the socially accepted thing to do.a multitude of factors, both inherited and environmental, influence the development of healthrelated behaviors, and it is beyond the scope of this text to discuss all these factors as they may affect any given individual.however, the decision to adopt a particular health-related behavior is usually one of personal choices.
there are healthy choices and there are unhealthy choices.in discussing the moral of personal choice, fries and crapo drew a comparison.[zz(z]they suggest that to knowingly give oneself over to a behavior that has a statistical probability of shortening life is similar to attempting suicide.[zz)]thus, for those individuals
who are interested in preserving both the quality and quantity of life, personal health choices should reflect those behaviors that are associated with statistical probability of increased vitality and longevity.

39. to knowingly allow oneself to pursue unhealthy habits is compared by fries and crapo to____.

writing sample
as a human being, one can hardly do without a friend.society is made up of individuals, and making friends is a very important part in our life.friends can give you a lot.first,if you have trouble with some problems, you can consult your good
friends and exchange opinions.thus, you will feel comfortable and encouraged.secondly,if you wish to do some physical exercises, such as playing table tennis, you could play with friends and have a good time.
but what is true friendship?some people think friends are people whom they can play with.in my opinion,a friend in need is a friend indeed.true friendship can encourage you when you are in difficulties.a true friend not only shares with you
your joy and happiness but also your trouble and anxiety.when you need him,he
will give you a hand and spare no efforts.
as far as i'm concerned,i wish to make as many friends as possible.the world is
a big family, and we will feel relaxed in a friendly atmosphere.i wish some day we can all be friends.
el, la, los, las
un, una,unos, unas.
注意:
NO.02
Interpretaba (16) pieza a ritmo lento.

Even people in traditional professions, where expert knowledge has been the key,are unlikely to escape the effects of new technology.Instead of going to a solicitor, you might go to a computer which is progammed with all the most up-to-date legal information.Doctors, too, will find that an electronic competitor will be able to carry out a much quicker and more accurate diagnosis and recommend more efficient courses of treatment. In education, teachers will be largely replaced by teaching machines far more knowledgeable than any human being. Most learning will take place in the home via video conferencing.Children will still go to school though ,until another

DIGITAL books are changing traditional publishing models everywhere. In America and Britain, the rise of electronic books is the cause. China’s revolution is different.
“I can’t identify any popular literary trend that didn’t originate online,” says Jo Lusby of Penguin China. Although e-readers are still scarce, the internet has greatly affected reading habits. Chinese people increasingly read books on phones, tablets and laptops. People under 30, who are most likely to own such devices, are the most avid readers, says Eric Abrahamsen, a Beijing-based publishing consultant.
originate v.
scarce adj.
avid adj.
consultant n.
The result has been an outpouring of mass-market fiction, written (and read) on websites, not in print. Five years ago internet publishers were typically informal, back-room outfits, but Shanda, an online gaming company, seized the commercial opportunity and now owns most of the literary sites. It sells subscriptions by the chapter or book, by the week or month. Online novels start at around five yuan ($0.80) compared with 30 yuan for an average printed volume.
subscription n.
Some of the newly popular online genres, such as romance, exist everywhere. Others could be termed fiction with Chinese characteristics: grave-robbing stories, for example; official corruption fables involving scheming cadres; and time-travel books where 2,000-year-old warriors pop into a contemporary Beijing disco.
scheming adj.
Some of this online material makes it into book form. Print sales, dominated by the country’s 580 state-owned publishing houses, are now worth 44 billion yuan ($7 billion). But growth has slowed from 10% a year in 2007 to around 5%, according to Yang Wei of OpenBook, a market-research firm. Like many online start-ups, Shanda is not yet making money out of web books, although revenues are growing.
The internet has also changed the way that books are promoted. China has relatively few bookshops so cultural networking sites such as Douban.com have proved good at targeting new readers. Few writers make much money, online or in print. The handful of stylish novelists who do have become celebrities. Guo Jingming, a 28-year-old with six novels in 2011’s top 20 list, manages a group of young writers whose magazine Top Novel sells 400,000 copies a month. Han Han, a 29-year-old novelist turned racing-car driver, has a popular blog. Mr Han rose to fame cleverly tweaking the authorities without running foul of the censors. Today’s edgy writers, such as Murong Xuecun, can steer around the censors with their online writing, then make necessary cuts in their print editions. Most authors give the censors no trouble. They know where the line is drawn.
handful of 少数
stylish adj.
run foul of 与……
The proliferation of television channels has created a new stable of authors, and books by television hosts populate bestseller lists. Many are self-help titles. Bai Yansong, a state television presenter, shot up the charts with “Are You Happy?”; and the popularity of “Why is our Life so Hard?”, a book by a talk-show host, Lang Xianping, says much about people’s concerns that they are not better off, despite a booming economy.
proliferation n.
a stable of 一大批;一大群
Some foreign titles win commercial success. Stieg Larsson’s “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” trilogy has sold more than 100,000 copies in Chinese. Yet publishing is a local affair, and even translated titles may be trumped by more popular Chinese imitations. Dan Brown’s “The Da Vinci Code”, for example, has been outstripped locally by his Chinese counterpart, He Ma, whose ten-part “Tibet Code” unearths ancient Tibetan Buddhist secrets.
trilogy 三部曲
trump v.
outstrip v.
counterpart n.
Question time:
1. Why there are less bookstores in China?
2. What kind of novels are most popular in China at the present?
”Culture shock“ occurs as a result of total immersion (浸没) in a new culture. It happens to ”people who have been suddenly transplanted abroad. “ Newcomers may be anxious because they do not speak the language, know the customs, or understand people's behavior in daily life. The visitor finds that ”yes“ may not always mean ”yes“, that friendliness does not necessarily mean friendship, or that statements that appear to be serious are really intended as jokes. The foreigner may be unsure as to when to shake hands, when to start conversations, or how to approach a stranger. The notion of ”culture shock“ helps explain feelings of bewilderment and disorientation. Language problems do not account for all the frustrations that people feel. When one is deprived of everything that was once so familiar, such as understanding a transportation system, knowing how to register for university classes, or knowing how to make friends, difficulties in coping with the new society may arise.
”... when an individual enters a strange culture, he or she is like fish out of water, “ Newcomers feel at times that they do not belong to and feel alienated from the native members of the culture. When this happens visitors may want to reject everything about the new environment and may glorify and exaggerate the positive aspects of their own culture. Conversely visitors may scorn their native country by rejecting its values and instead choosing to identify with (if only temporarily) the value of the new country. This may occur as an attempt to over-identify with the new culture in order to be accepted by the people in it.
◆The expression ”he or she is like fish out of water“ suggests_______.

D. people away from their culture have difficulties in their studies
◆ In order to identify with the new environment, some people may_______.
A. give an exaggerated picture of their own country
B. criticize the positive aspects of their own country
C. abandon their original beliefs
D. accept a temporary set of values
◆Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the author?
A. Homesickness results in culture shock.
B. A typical symptom of culture shock is confusion.
C. Culture shock is the explanation of anxiety.
D. Culture shock happens to foreign students only.
◆Newcomers may worry about_________.
A. their ignorance of the alien customs
B. their knowledge of ”yes“ in the native language
C. their understanding of friendship
D. their control of their behavior
◆When the foreign visitor is immersed in new problems he finds hard to cope with, he is most likely to feel_______.
A. uninsured B. deprived
C. alienated D. disappointed
答案: C B B A C
The future population will be older than today, and this in turn will change the patterns of social demands. However, Mexico will still be far from the ”aging societies“ that will most likely prevail (占优势 ) in the industrialized countries. In less than 25 years, the country will have to add almost as much infrastructure as it has already built up to now, simply to maintain services and production at the current levels. This will be a tremendous challenge, although a similar one was faced successfully in the recent past, when available infrastructure was doubled in two decades or so. It is no wonder that much has been said about the need to reduce or preferably halt Mexico's population control which is taken for granted as both good and necessary. It has also gained supporters in the developing world, and Mexico is no exception. But the arguments about population are complicated, as the following discussion illustrates.
Even if Mexico's population reaches 125 million by the year 2010, its population density is still smaller than the 1985 population density of some 50 countries. By international standards Mexico will still not be overpopulated by the year 2010. If wealth is generated by people, the more individuals there are, the greater the wealth that potentially could be generated. Why should Mexico control its population at density levels below those of the richer countries if more population represents the possibility of generating more wealth?
On the other hand, it is often pointed out that once sustainability(支撑力) limits are near or are reached, there are decreasing productivity gains (or,perhaps more accurately, increasing productive losses) , and people become a cost rather than an asset. If we assume that there are sustainability limits and that we are close to reaching these limits at a world level, then it is appropriate to check population growth.
◆According to the passage, the population argument is focused on_______.
A. whether more people are a property or a cost
B. whether Mexico should control its population growth or not
C. whether the density of population in Mexico is large or small
D. what the standard international sustainability limit is
◆ Which of the following is TRUE according to the first paragraph?
A. Mexico has stepped into an aging society.
B. It is not necessary for Mexico to control its population.
C. Mexico population is younger than that of developed countries.
D. It is not necessary for Mexico to develop its infrastructure.
◆By ”infrastructure“(Para. 2) the author means_______.
A. buildings
B. the basic framework of a country, such as schools, services, etc.
C. social demands
D. services and production
◆ It may be inferred from the 3rd paragraph that_______.
A. it isn't necessary for Mexico to control its population growth
B. population is likely to grow at a slower pace than in the past
C. the more people there are, the greater the wealth people could generate
D. Mexico should control its population growth because she belongs to the developing countries
◆ To check population growth is necessary when_______.
A. there are decreasing productivity gains
B. there are increasing productivity losses
C. we are close to reaching the sustainability limits at a world level
D. people become a cost
答案: B C B A C
Until the 1980s, the American homeless population comprised mainly older males. Today, homelessness strikes much younger part of society. In fact, a 25-city survey by the U. S. Conference of Mayors in 1987 found that families with children make up the fastest growing part of the homeless population. Many homeless children gather in inner cities; this transient(变化无常的) and frequently frightened student population creates additional problems ― both legal and educational ― for already overburdened urban school administrators and teachers.
Estimates of the number of homeless Americans range from 350,000 to three million. Likewise, estimates of the number of homeless school children vary radically. A U.S. Department of Education report, based on state estimates, states that there are 220,000 homeless school-age children, about a third of whom do not attend school on a regular basis, But the National Coalition for the Homeless estimates that there are at least two times as many homeless children, and that less than half of them attend school regularly.
One part of the homeless population that is particularly difficult to count consists of the “throwaway” youths who have been cast of their homes. The Elementary School Center in New York City estimates that there are 1.5 million of them, many of whom are not counted as children because they do not stay in family shelters and tend to live by themselves on the streets.
Federal law, the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act of 1987, includes a section that addresses the educational needs of homeless children. The educational provisions of the McKinney Act are based on the belief that all homeless children have the right to a free, appropriate education.
1. It is implied in the first paragraph that ____.
A) the writer himself is homeless, even in his eighties
B) many older homeless residents are going on strike in 25 cities
C) there is a serious shortage of academic facilities
D) homeless children are denied the opportunity of receiving free education
2. The National Coalition for the homeless believes that the number of homeless children is _____.
A) 350,000
B) 1,500,000
C) 440,000
D) 110,000
3. One part of the homeless population is difficult to estimate. The reason might well be ____.
A) the homeless children are too young to be counted as children
B) the homeless population is growing rapidly
C) the homeless children usually stay outside school
D) some homeless children are deserted by their families
4. The McKinney Act is mentioned in this passage in order to show that ___.
A) the educational problems of homeless children are being recognized
B) the estimates on homeless children are hard to determine
C) the address of grade-school children should be located
D) all homeless people are entitled to free education
5. The passage mainly deals with ____.
A) the legal problems of the homeless children
B) the educational problems of homeless children
C) the social status of older males
D) estimates on the homeless population

Culture
Q1:Can you name some traditional Chinese festivals? Do you like them? Why?
Q2:Should a city try to preserve its old, historic buildings or destroy them and replace them with modern buildings?
Q3:Should government give financial support to build museums and theaters? State your opinion and explain why?
Traditional cultures should be protected. because first, they serve as a mirror to remind modern people of their past that they should be proud of. Take the Chinese New Year as an example, no one could resist the charm of a family reunion dinner and family members make toasts for each other in order to wish for joy, peace, health and fortune for the next year. Secondly, they can attract visitors from abroad to experience the traditional thing, which is a big support to the tourism industry and the economy. Therefore, it is necessary to bring funding to support traditional culture no matter in what kind of form.
Relations Between the Young and Their Parents & People you admire
Q: Describe a person that you look up to as a role model. Explain how this person influenced your life. Include details and examples to support your response.
First, she never gives up her own dream. Under the difficult situations, she keeps pursuing her dream supported by her own strong spirit and she successfully becomes the leader of her country and realizes her goal. She inspires me to realize my own dream of getting a high CET grade.
Second, she is a person with kind-heartedness. She never hesitates to give others a hand when they fall into troubles and helps them go through without asking for any reward. From her, I learn that I should be grateful to those who help me and be ready to help others.
Transportation
Q:What is the most efficient transportation in your country?
The most efficient transportation in my country, I’d say, is subway. First, it is really convenient for the passengers to arrive at their destinations as it almost covers every corner in our city. And second, compared with bicycle, it has high speed, people don’t need to worry about their time, traffic jam or parking space. What’s more, subway is far more eco-friendly than vehicles. So frankly speaking, subway is the most efficient transportation.
Education
Q1:What do you think education should be? Should it be a process of learning what is useful for your future life or should it be simply learning for enjoyment? Why?
Q2:If you had the opportunity to change your major, what would you do with it?
Q3:Agree or disagree with the following statement? College education should only be available to people who have done well in secondary school.
In today’s society college education is much more common that it gradually becomes part of the general education. Almost all of the lucrative work positions ask for a bachelor’s degree at least. Hence offering college education to all of the students is the fair thing to do.
Some students might discover their passion for learning or their advantages at a later time. Offering them post-secondary education is one more opportunity for them to study up and get better training. The possibility of entering college is a right each student should have.

第一遍:做题;
第二遍:跟读练习;
①When——新闻发生的时间;
②Where———新闻发生的地点;
③What———新闻描述的具体事件;
④Who——事件中涉及的人物;
⑤Why———事件的起因;
Science is related to all the existing things and the characteristics and process of the phenomena happening in nature.Science contains the whole nature, which develops various penetrating views about human being's conceptions that how naturalization phenomena are related together and how they constitute our so-called universe.
Science has many characteristics. We have to inspect those functions and characteristics in detail if we want to know what the science is.Some authors assert that science in fact is a kind of method-scientific method. This definition is over simplified. But obviously the scientific method plays an important role in deciding the nature of the scientific knowledge.
