Describe a positive experience you had before

You should say:

What it was

When it happened

Where it occurred

And explain why you like it

比如,去年第二部分的高频话题 “describe something that you did with a group of people”(描述你和一些人一起做的一件事)和 “describe a project or homework you did”(描述你做的一个项目或作业),都完全可以作为描述这所谓的“积极的经历”的雅思口语选材。

One of the most positive experiences that I have ever had in my life was that I was rewarded with a Nokia 0323 cell phone by my father, since I had done well in the high school entrance exam years ago.

Clearly, I remember that before the exam came, I had been working extremely hard on it days and nights for at least 3 months, as I was eager to enter my favorite high school in Shanghai. What is sure is that during that period of time, I was making every effort to realizing my very first dream. I stayed up late until 2 o’clock in the early morning on a daily basis.

Eventually, when the results came out, I was so excited that I was admitted to my dream high school in the upcoming semester.

Even my whole family and friends were over the moon for me. More excitingly, my dad bought me a cell phone, Nokia 0323, the next day as an award. He told me that he was so proud of me and I deserved it. It was the first time that I received a present from my dad.

Now, the phone is still lying in the drawer next to my bed, although it is completely out of date, which keeps reminding me of a positive experience I had before.

1. 事件发生的背景(Why it happened);

2. 事件发生前的情况和状态(Prepare for it);

3. 事件发生的时间、地点、人物(When/where/who);

4. 事件的具体内容(What the people did in the event);

5. 一至两个亮点的细节描述(What impressed you most);

6. 感受(How do you feel about it 或 What you learned from it);

Describe a time you experienced a long-time traffic jam.

You should say:

when and where it happened;

how long you were in the traffic jam;

what you did to try to get out of the problem situation;

and explain how you felt about that traffic jam.

Several weeks ago, I was on a bus to my workplace, as usual. But I didn't expect that the bus would get stuck right in the middle of a bridge. A car got rear-ended by another one, the two drivers were quarreling ferociously, they almost broke into a fight at some point. The traffic police were there, but there was nothing they could do. And all the cars and buses where just stuck there, with drivers honking and passengers cursing. It was totally chaotic.

Since I'm just a passenger, I could do nothing about the problem. But if I were the traffic policeman, I would stop those two drivers with forces, and towed away their cars, so that the rest of us could get pass. About this traffic congestion, I felt completely irritated.

My work begins sharply at nine o'clock, but it was already eight forty, and there were still six stops to go. I could never make it on time. I tried to tell myself to calm down and read some news reports on my cellphone, but I was distracted and disgusted by the foul language of those two angry drivers, and the complains of other passengers around me. And what upset me even more was that the traffic policeman was just writing stuff on his notebook, without doing anything practical. And I felt sorry for those two drivers. Had they acted more rationally, they wouldn't have caused such a scene. But I guess they would never know that until they saw their pictures on the front page the next day. That traffic jam lasted for about an hour, and it utterly ruined my day.

I have always wanted to buy a flat near a lake and open space. My father has his own home where I used to live until I had to move to a new city for my job. Currently. I am living in a rented house in the metropolitan city for my job and yet I have a great desire to own a house of my own that would be a large house with lots of rooms and which would be near a lake or river.

I have wanted to buy this house most probably after I moved to the new city where I am currently residing. I wanted a house of my own where I would have my family members and that would give me freedom of living. The house would be near open space and close to nature. It is almost impossible to have such a house in the metropolitan city I am currently living in. I have the plan to return to my hometown, buy this house and then start a business of my own.

I will have the house decorated and arranged in the way I have always wanted. I will have my family members to move to this house. I will keep an open space in front of this house and I will grow many plants and flowers in this open space.

Describe a recent happy event that you had.

You should say:

l When this happened

l What the event was

l Who was with you

And explain why you felt happy about it

Sample answer:

There are numerous happy events in my life that I can recall and among those, I would like to talk about the day that I was blessed with a little sister. This was an event that I still recall vividly. I was then only 7-8 years old and when I saw a little angel was crying on my mother's lap, I became the happiest man in the world. I was the only son of my parents and when I heard that I will have another sibling, I got very excited and I was counting days when this brother/ sister of mine will come. I speculated and imagined lots of things I would do with my sibling. The day that my sister came into the world was one of the happiest days of my life.

For the first time, I felt a strong urge to kiss this little fairy child. She was so beautiful and adorable that I thanked God for the gift. My mother asked me to hold her and kiss her but I was afraid to touch her as I thought that might hurt her. I felt like I was flying on that day. My mother gave birth of the baby in a hospital and I was so happy and attached to the event that I denied returning home at night. I stayed in the hospital cabin for about 4-5 days till my mother and sister came home. I came back home with the most precious gift of the world.

Describe your job in detail.

I am an Engineer. Allow me to explain myself by shortly mentioning the following points: Firstly, I work for a large construction company. To be more precise, we specialize in the building of railway bridges. Secondly, I would like to mention that I am in the designing department. We have to look at the site for a new bridge, and then decide what type of bridge will be suitable. Lastly, we have to make recommendations to the railway company of all the alternatives, and give them some idea of the costs.

Is your job important to you?

That’s a broad question. Allow me to explain by shortly mentioning the following points: First of all, my job is important to me because by doing it I can serve my community and my country. For example, when my company builds a new road, many people benefit from our work. Secondly, it makes me feel good about myself. For instance, I am earning enough money to be able to rent my own apartment.

Topic Sentence

Supporting Ideas

Examples

For example,First , secondly, last but not the least来讲分论点,但这样给考官的感觉是在背作文,而不是真正的口语。 最好用well , also , actually ,as a matter of fact , you know 等等词。

One day, suddenly, I wanted to find a foreign pen pal on the Internet. It was a coincidence that it's the first time I knew the website called PenPal World. Then I used my phone to register an account by instinct. After that, I uploaded some personal information and my email address. Finishing, I started to browse others' home page in order to find more fascinating and excellent pals.

I was attracted by a Belarus boy's introduction and his smile looks like an angel, and I saw that he can speak fluent English, Russian and German. I was so amazed by that he also had gift in playing musical instruments.So I pressed the button and sent an email to him and asked him some questions about how to acquire more skills in a short time. It was so amazing that he replied me an hour later and he was so nice to answer all of my questions in a gentle way. I was touched by his behavior, I mean, I was a totally stranger to him. So it's just organically happening that we became pen pals.

From that moment on, I was so delighted to use my mobile phone to check my mail box. It was quite a pleasure for me to share my happiness and troubles with a stranger. I felt so magical to get in touch with a stranger through my mobile phone.

Describe an achievement that you are proud of

You should say:

What it was

How it was made

What difficulties have you encountered during the process

Why you are proud of this achievement

Well, it's probably difficult to believe but last year I knocked off X kilos in about 6 months, and this is what I am still enormously proud of. I have to confess...I used to be a very lazy girl who loved fast food and hated sports. And at that time I was so slim that I didn't even think that one day being overweight would become my number 1 problem. So when I realised that I'd put on X kilos, I decided to lose weight and get fit, no matter what.

And so it began. I started exercising daily. I went jogging in the mornings and I walked in the evenings. Also, I ditched junk food and stopped buying snacks, which I couldn't live without. I started sticking to a diet. You know, no sweets, no rice, no cheeseburgers, and French fries. Not only salads, vegetables, fruits and plenty of fluids. I ate only healthy food and drank a lot of water daily. I cooked foods in healthier ways such as boiling, baking and stewing. I read somewhere that it is better to have a few light meals instead of on main meal. So I followed this advice too. I continued this practice for six straight months. As a result, I lost more than X kilograms.

Now I'm not only as slim as I used to be, but I'm also fit enough. And I'm genuinely proud of my achievement. I should say it was hard to change my habits, my diet and my lifestyle, and at some point I was about to give up because all those activities were really time consuming. But I didn't, thank God, though I was facing a lot of difficulties. Another thing that makes me feel inordinately proud of myself is that I achieved great results without anybody's help. I just read blogs and forums, used a lot of online resources, but it was I that decided what to do with myself. This is something I never thought I could do. You can't even imagine how much effort I put in achieving this result. I would even say I was fighting the battle of my life. And I won.

Describe a team where you were a member

You should say:

What it was like

What you did in it

Why you joined it

And explain how you felt about it

I was once a member of our school’s photography club which organised training sessions for people who had an interest in photography or video editing About 5 years ago, our school organized a short documentary competition in which the first prize could win 1000 RMB, so I immediately gathered some talented people I encountered in the club and formed a team to participate in the competition. After days of discussion, we decided to shoot a video about the Chongqing hot-pot, which was a typical dish (佳肴) in my hometown. We divided the work according to our individual skills. My friends were in charge of (负责) the script writing and the editing of the film, while I was responsible for the shooting. At the beginning, I encountered many obstacles (障碍) and challenges such as technical problems, and I also felt a little stressed (乏力的) trying to find a decent restaurant to record appropriate videos. Fortunately, I had a patient coach and several intelligent team members who always helped me tackle those challenges. They accompanied me to the restaurant and inspired me a lot in terms of what to shoot and which direction to shoot from. Finally, we submitted our half-an-hour-long documentary right before the deadline (截止日期) and, to our delight, even won the first prize! I learned so much through this experience and realized the importance of cooperating with your team members. Unity creates greater achievement and I could never have accomplished such a result without the help of my friends.

首当其冲的是th的发音,凡是遇到th我们都要咬舌头,比如the, think, this, mother, both, three, through, month, maths。

Neither father nor mother likes this weather.

容易/n//l/淆 的常见词还有:let,like,live,light,low,night,ninenose,net等等。

Mike likes to write by the nice bright light at night.

I like the shape of that mountain.(包含了四个容易混淆的元音)

双元音是指音标中的八个音[ei][ai][?i][au][?u] [i?][ε?][u?]。
