Question:
What role do you think extracurricular activities play in education?
Answer:
By participating in extracurricular activities, a person can expand his or her social circle. If you play basketball, you can meet people of other grades from other majors and you can become friends on and off court. So these after-class activities really help us to know more people.
If you are an activity organizer, you can develop many skills and abilities that you can never learn in a classroom. These techniques include public speaking ability, people skills, and organizational skills. These skills will continue to be beneficial to you after you graduate.
College is a place where we meet life, both academically and leisurely. Extracurricular activities show us possibilities of entertainment. And if you participate in these activities, you can find a life-long hobby that you can enjoy for the rest of your life. I fell in love with basketball when I was in college, and it has been a constant pleasure in my spare time.

Last year I went to Yunnan with my family and it was really a trip that took longer than I expected.
It took longer than I expected due to several reasons. The first one was because of massive delays. For one thing, the airplane delays for more than 8 hours for no reason which was the most ridiculous one and annoyed me a lot. I remembered I read an entire book and played video games but still can’t kill the time. For another, when I arrived at the destination, the hotel was still not ready for us to check in and we wasted another 2 hours. The second reason was travelling in Yunnan was totally different from what I had expected. I thought Yunnan was a quiet city with marvelous natural sceneries but when I arrived there I was shocked by the huge number of tourists. No matter where I went I had to take a deep breath. I don’t feel natural and I can’t focus here. Anyway, it was really an awful trip. If I could choose again I would rather stay at home.

Describe an achievement that you are proud of
You should say:
What it was
How it was made
What difficulties have you encountered during the process
Why you are proud of this achievement
Well, it's probably difficult to believe but last year I knocked off X kilos in about 6 months, and this is what I am still enormously proud of. I have to confess...I used to be a very lazy girl who loved fast food and hated sports. And at that time I was so slim that I didn't even think that one day being overweight would become my number 1 problem. So when I realised that I'd put on X kilos, I decided to lose weight and get fit, no matter what.
And so it began. I started exercising daily. I went jogging in the mornings and I walked in the evenings. Also, I ditched junk food and stopped buying snacks, which I couldn't live without. I started sticking to a diet. You know, no sweets, no rice, no cheeseburgers, and French fries. Not only salads, vegetables, fruits and plenty of fluids. I ate only healthy food and drank a lot of water daily. I cooked foods in healthier ways such as boiling, baking and stewing. I read somewhere that it is better to have a few light meals instead of on main meal. So I followed this advice too. I continued this practice for six straight months. As a result, I lost more than X kilograms.
Now I'm not only as slim as I used to be, but I'm also fit enough. And I'm genuinely proud of my achievement. I should say it was hard to change my habits, my diet and my lifestyle, and at some point I was about to give up because all those activities were really time consuming. But I didn't, thank God, though I was facing a lot of difficulties. Another thing that makes me feel inordinately proud of myself is that I achieved great results without anybody's help. I just read blogs and forums, used a lot of online resources, but it was I that decided what to do with myself. This is something I never thought I could do. You can't even imagine how much effort I put in achieving this result. I would even say I was fighting the battle of my life. And I won.

My uncle lives and works abroad. He rarely gets the chance to go home because his workis very demanding. Recently however he was able to take a few weeks off, so he came back.My uncle had told us about a plan he had to take a long trip through the country and all of us agreed. He said that it had always been his dream and now we are going to share in it.We all packed our bags and he rented a vehicle large enough to accommodate all of us. He volunteered to drive the first few miles but since it was a long and exhausting drive for just one man, he and my father took turns on the wheel.
The resort was everything it promised to be and more. There were many activities for us to do like the usual sightseeing and picture taking. We also got the chance to try scuba diving, snorkeling and parasailing.
Since it was the first time we had a trip by car, we felt so excited that we made as much noise as we could. We were all singing, telling jokes and sharing stories.

Speaking of a popular person I know, the first name that comes to my mind is David Beckham. So today, I will be talking about him, a well-known celebrity not only in his country UK, but also around the whole world.
David Beckham was born in Leytonstone, London in the year 1975. He is most widely known as one of UK’s greatest footballers. He played football for the England National team from 1996 to 2009, and also worked for some other famous football clubs like the Manchester United and Real Madrid. As a professional player, he became an icon of football around the world at a young age and is now probably one of the most esteemed sports celebrities alive. He is a legendary footballer who has a unique style in his bending free-kicks as a right winger. In 2004, David Beckham was listed in the FIFA's 100 greatest living players in the world. He was twice the runner-up for 'FIFA World Player of the Year’. These statistics are to signify how popular he is. By the way, he became one of the highest paid footballers in the world back in 2013, from which you can tell how much people love him.
When it comes to the reasons why Beckham is so popular, first thing I have to say, is that he truly is an extraordinary football player. I’ve always been a fan of the UK football team, and Beckham was the footballer I most wanted to learn from back in high school. Besides, he’s also a fashion icon among the young, always displaying great tastes of clothing. Another important factor that makes him so popular I guess, is his efforts put in charity. He has been a UNICEF ambassador for a long period of time, founder of The David Beckham UNICEF Fund, and his recent philanthropic works also turned out to be quite exceptional.
As a successful football player, Beckham, along with his teammates, has made a hit among football fans around the world, attracting more people to explore this exciting sport. In the meantime, his endeavors into improving the quality of children’s life in undeveloped countries, also helped a lot in drawing people’s attention to this severe problem.

衣服款式:top上衣,pullover套头毛衣,be in red/green/dark身着红/绿/黑色衣服,suit(男)西服/(女)套装……
1. Describe a friend you know who is a good leader
2. Describe a family member you want to work with
3. Describe a person who is good at cooking
4. Describe a famous person that you know
5. Describe a person you wanted to be similar to when you were growing up.
6. Describe a singer or a band
先我们可以从大体上来描述一个人的外貌,比如 年龄 young/old, 身高 average/medium height, 着装 casually dressed/formally dressed, 头发 blonde/short hair/slightly wavy, 脸型 round/ heart-shaped/square/oval 等,除此之外还可以加一些关于面部表情的描述。
例如在描述 “describe a person who has an important job”时,除了对于人物的描述外还需要描述 “why the job is important”.

There are several advertisements that we see in TV daily and some of them are very boring and others are average while some are very interesting and creative. One such advertisement that I really liked was regarding the unmatched contributions of mothers for their kids which I saw few months back. The advertisement was broadcasted for the 'Mother's Day' and it was not for any product. The ministry of child & mother care of health department was the sponsor of this ad and I saw it 3-4 days before the last 'Mother's Day'.
This ad was a very creative one and it was not like the most other ads that publicize the advertize their products. Rather it was an advertisement dedicated to the mothers and it reminded us that the toughest job of the world is the job done by mothers. They take care of their kids with the utmost care and dedication. They sacrifice their own wished and will to properly bring up the kids.
I saw this ad in the (...say a channel name..) UR TV channel. This was a creative ad that effectively delivered the message it intended to. It has shown some successful person in the history at the end and before that it showed how mothers are taking care and inspiring their kids to do good things and in the end it shows the tribute to the mothers of the world for their valuable and second to none contribution.
A piece of equipment----airconditioner
I'd like to talk about a piece of advanced equipment in my home, an air conditioner. My parents bought it in a department store when I was sixteen years old to replace the old one.
I think it is interesting to use this equipment, just like magic. Because when we use it, it can change hot air to cold air. When we are cold, we also get warm by using it. I can't imagine what our life will be if we don't have it.
Of course we don't use it all the time. Because when in spring or autumn, the weather is very comfortable, it isn't necessary to use it. If we use it all the time, it is not environmental friendly. Also, it is not good for our health if we stay in an air-conditioned room for a long time. When I feel very hot or cold outside, I will miss my air conditioner.
Describe a piece of equipment in your home
You should say:
what it is;
how often you use it;
who you usually use it with;
and explain why this item is important to you.
sample answer
Well, I'm going to talk about something you may well be familiar with – a laptop computer. I use mine mostly for e-mails but also for word processing, especially when I'm writing reports or something for work. I find I can organise my ideas more clearly than with the traditional pen and paper. Although I do take it with me most days, I don't actually use it for very long at a time because the power doesn't last for more than a few hours if it's not plugged in. Like most people, I use my phone for most smaller tasks so although I have my laptop, it's not always on.
Now, the first step in using a laptop is quite obvious – you have to turn it on. This can take quite a while depending on the model. What you do next depends on your particular reason for using it, but I'm going to talk about connecting to the Internet. After making sure that the laptop is on, you need to click the wifi signal icon to connect to a wireless network. Of course, you don't need to do this if you have already connected to that network before as your computer will remember and automatically connect you. If it's your first time connecting, most places will then ask for a password. Once you've entered that, it can take up to a minute to connect, but then you should see a small notice on the screen telling you that you are now online – you know, connected to the Internet. Finally, simply type in the website address you want, or if you are just surfing then type the word or words in the search bar.
It's not at all difficult to use, but some people still have difficulty.
