校园炒股
What the drawing is trying to express is very conspicuous! The eye?catching scene depicted has become a common sight on college campuses in recent years. Speculating about the stock market is no longer a new thing among college students and continues to become more popular. A kind of stock trading league has even been set up at several universities.
However, should a university student invest in the stock market? Just as every coin has two sides, there are also two sides to a student’s decision to invest and trade in the stock market. On the negative side, following the stock market is very time-consuming, and, as a student’s main priority is to study, may undermine academic pursuits. Furthermore, students often do not have the financial means to take on large ventures in the stock market, and thus could hardly withstand potential losses. On the other hand, if stock market investment is economically feasible for the student, it is a different story. Assuming one can manage his or her time well enough to keep up with studies, investing in the stock market can be a great way to get first-hand financial experience, while at the same time preparing one for life after college.
Based on the points discussed above, personally, I hold the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. After pondering the question on several occasion, I have finally arrived at conclusion that stock market investment should not be recommended to most college students. （239 words）

The drawing portrays a tragic scene in which a rabbit is telling a story to her son, with numerous fresh tree stumps surrounding them. It seems that the tree stumps are lamenting the loss of their paradise as well.
The picture aims at assailing a serious environmental problem―deforestation, for which several factors are responsible. In the first place, no one can ignore the fact that wood is an indispensable raw material for industrial production and daily life. In the second place, the expanding human population requires more living space, and forests are always the first choice humans decide to sacrifice. As a result, forests have experienced, and are experiencing fatal destruction worldwide.
Currently, people in increasing numbers come to realize the forests’ fundamental role in sustaining ecological balance, and their damage will result in irreversible harm to the world’s environment. Therefore, urgent and effective measures should be implemented so as to prevent deforestation. For instance, there are already some steps that have proved useful, say, the establishment of reserves of natural lands, the creation of substitutes of wooden products. One glance at the cartoon can leave the viewer in awe of its beauty and splendor. One can only imagine the amount of patience that was required before any of this greatness was to be achieved. Here it is a symbol of strong man, whose character is revealed in crisis and adversity. It goes without saying that adversity is the touchstone of man―the harder the situation is, the more clearly a man’s strength is seen.
This picture reminds me of my father, a most determined and persistent man. He was born in a very poor family in the country, and both of my grandparents were farmers, but he was determined to change his own fate ever since he was a little boy. He studied extremely hard, graduated from high school with distinction and went to study computer sciences in the University. He later became a professor and art expert in computer programming―he could design large-scale programs for supermarkets, hotels, parks and bookstores all by himself. Who can deny that resulted from the determination and perseverance of a most strong person?
The best way to know a strong man, I think, is to let him go through a severe test. Whenever we want to test a man’s character, we should find out whether he could stand adversity, because adversity can always reveal the true character of a man. Some people would give up halfway in the face of what seems to be insurmountable. Men of such a type can hardly expect to succeed.
